    2006 tundra build start

That's a nice change. Glad you got rid of the steps and wheels. I do like the AC Tundras....the box and cab aren't as tall as the DC and therefore looks a little better proportioned. My DC looks like a whale sometimes. I've seen the LC100 bumper mod and it does look very nice. I knew I...

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

I agree with this, but that's just my personal taste. Not sure what it is, but silver wheels always look out of place to me.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Northwest Overland Rally 2019 is coming up quickly....June 20-23 near Leavenworth, WA. http://www.nwoverlandrally.com/ Anyone planning on going? I had to miss last year due to babies being born, but I'm on for this year. There are quite a few 1st gen Tundras in the NW...maybe we can all meet...

    1st gen Tundra, wheels, suspension

Amen. Although I like my Icon's, I kinda wish I would've gone with King's because I think they would be a bit more compliant on washboard. My Icon's are pretty stiff, even after revalving to soften them up. Definitely replace the ball joints. OEM can be found for $100 or so. Change them...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

The rack bushings and tie rods are all new within the last 15K miles, but I'll double check them when I replace the rack. I'm not running a rear camera yet. I'm waiting for my rear bumper to show up before I decide on what camera I will need. Hopefully should be done within the next week or...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Project: Front camera install Purpose: When running tight trails, I find it hard to tell exactly what's in front of my over the huge hood of my truck. I have a general sense of where obstacles are, but it's easy to loose track of what's coming, especially when coming over a rise. I figured a...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Well, I'm going to have to sit on this one for a bit and figure out how I'm going to make it happen. I really don't want to drop the diff just to put on a hose. I'll look closer at the rubber fitting that's on there now and if it's in good shape I might just try to reconnect it to the metal...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

It looks like the metal tube connects to a rubber sleeve that then fits over the nipple on the differential. I haven't thought about any type of sealant or tape. There's just no way I could wrap anything around it. If I'm going to get in there and fix it, I'd rather just make sure that I...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Noticed a wet spot under the front of my truck the other day. Got under there and found gear oil all around the center of the diff. Checked the axle seals and the driveshaft input seals and they are all dry. The drain plug and fill plug are tight and dry. I checked further up and found...

How're you liking those Toytec coilovers so far?

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Haven't made any progress on the bed issue. Still not sure where to go from here. How would I measure the frame to see if it's straight? Snow is finally melting around here so I took my daughters up for a quick overnight trip in the mountains. Did an easy one this time and rented a small...

I had no idea....that's good information!

    1st or 2nd Gen

The 4.7L is, I believe, the same as the 4.7L in the 1st gen Tundras and Sequoias. The 4.7L is adequate but not spectacular on those vehicles. The 2nd gen is larger and heavier than the 1st gen so I imagine you will feel the lack of power with the smaller engine. If you're going to go 2nd gen...

Just Picked up my first Overland project truck!!! 1996 T100, 3.4, 4x4, 240,000 miles. What to do first?

I'd say general maintenance first and clean up those headlights. I don't know if T100's suffer from frame rust as bad as other Toyota trucks, but if so I'd get under there and clean it all up. My dad's T100 is super clean underneath despite being in Washington winters for over a decade...

    1st or 2nd Gen

Agreed. 2nd Gen with the list of accessories in that price range might be hard to find. However, some mildly built 2nd gens pop up from time to time and sometimes for a reasonable price. If you are willing to wait I would look around until you find either a very clean 1st Gen, or semi-built...

    1st or 2nd Gen

Bumpers for 1st Gen are available from Brute Force Fab, Addicted Offroad, and Coastal Offroad. Sliders can be bought from Brute Force Fab, Stubbs Welding, and All Pro (for Access Cabs). Not tons of manufacturers, but at least there are options.

    Icon's vs Bilstein 6112.

They are 14" 700 lbs springs. I'm sure I could get them off if I used spring compressors, but didn't want to mess with those. The last thing I need is one of those failing and getting injured. My hands are my livelihood....better to have someone with real training do it.

    Icon's vs Bilstein 6112.

I briefly considered rebuilding mine myself, but I decided against it because I had no safe way of getting the springs off. I could probably figure out the rest of it with the help of Youtube, but it would've taken me three times as long as most everyone else. Looking back it certainly...

    Icon's vs Bilstein 6112.

Rebuilding isn't as cheap as I thought. I bought a used set of Icon's with the thought that I could just rebuild them and it wouldn't be a big deal. Well when I finally got around to it, $400 and almost 3 weeks later I had the coilovers back in my hands. That was more money and more time than...

    2002 Sequoia Limited 4WD

Not to clutter your thread up too much, but would one advantage of the external snorkel be to grab "cleaner" air on dusty trails? Would the hidden snorkel have more chance of dust ingress than an external? I ask because I run trails that get incredibly dusty during the dry months, but worry...
