Jake’s 1st Gen Tundra Camping Build & Trips

I'd forgotten about that, thanks for the reminder. Aerosol or paint sprayer Fluid Film? And if I use Aerosol, how many cans do you think to coat our trucks?

Jake’s 1st Gen Tundra Camping Build & Trips

I love that ARE canopy. The lift sides are so practical, especially without the toolboxes installed. How much does it weigh? I'm curious if it could easily be removed to take advantage on an open bed if I needed to haul things. How are you liking the wheel spacers? I know a lot of people...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I finally got around to getting a 5th SCS wheel and having my full-size spare mounted to it. I haven't tried to fit it underneath yet, but long term plans are for a new rear bumper with swing-out, so I'll probably just leave it in the bed for now. I'll lock it up with a cable lock to deter...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I've driven the truck several hundred miles since the road force and I can say with some confidence now that it did help. Both the rear tires were showing around 20 lbs on the road force, which apparently is just under a failing reading (tire would be out of round). They clocked the tires...

    2010 Tundra Build “TRD Ferguson”

A winch is definitely less expensive than a locker. That being said I've never had to use my winch, but I've used my rear locker a handful of times. It almost feels like cheating. It just walks up anything I point it at (within reason). The bigger question for the OP is, what limitations are...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

PM coming. Those are my thoughts also. I can't see any visible signs of failure on the leaf spring bushings, but it certainly feels like there is some play there while driving. Lots of noise coming from the rear suspension also....pops and clunks going over bumps and with lateral force...

Good info on the AG overland pack. I'm sure weight is the key with them. Heck, even with my stock springs on blocks I run with weight in the back to smooth out the ride. Now I've got 240 lbs in tube sand back there in preparation for winter driving and the rear is much more compliant now.

Did you do the wrap yourself? How hard was it? Looks like a nice setup!

Not that I remember, but that was a while ago. If it was there back then, it is definitely worse now. The popping and clunks going over bumps is fairly constant now. I'm leaning towards the spring packs.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Check page 21 on this thread. I don't know much about them, but there's a guy who posted his truck with the AG Overland springs w/ unloaded bed. I know a few other trucks that have them, but they are running with constant weight on the rear (swingout bumpers, canopy's, etc). I'm considering...

1st Gen Tundra Flippac - Novice Build Advice

Icon has 700 lbs springs as well. It's an option to add on whenever you buy the coilovers.

0mm offset, 4.5" backspacing, 16" wheel. Tires are 285/75-16. I do get rubbing on the frame at full lock on occasion. Not enough to bother me at all, and hasn't been an issue on the trails. I love the look of the F5's on this truck. So clean and classic without all the bling.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I would hope it's not the rear shocks. They are Icon 2.5's with maybe 10K miles on them. I don't hear anything like a rattling sound, mostly just a non-stop vibration. I'm definitely going to be changing out my leaf pack. Right now I'm on 1.5" blocks in the back, and the leaf packs make a...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

It's progressively gotten worse despite everything I've done. New tires and wheels didn't make much of a difference, either better or worse. Driveshaft balancing I thought initially made a big difference, but the more I drove it the more I realized that it hadn't. It has definitely gotten...

    2002 Sequoia Limited 4WD

Great info Sal. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out. Are all King springs progressive? My Icon's have 14" 700lbs Kings on them right now. I've noticed that my Icon's fade very quickly on washboard at speed. I'll see how they do after a rebuild and go from there.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

It better not be the third member. I just had it rebuilt 4 months ago with all new bearings and such at a reputable off-road shop. I ought to do a shot drain of the fluid and take a look at it just to make sure. I haven't had the rear drums off since I've owned the truck (170K miles, 198K...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Thanks for the info on the carrier. Vibrations are my enemy at the moment, so I'm not sure I'm going to go this direction. Driveshaft is balanced, I dropped the driveshaft carrier bearing down a little over 1/2" using washers, and the vibration is slightly better. I really think there is...

    2002 Sequoia Limited 4WD

Okay, I've got a couple of questions for you because I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to suspension. 1. How was the ride harsh prior to the Fox coilovers? Were you noticing it only off road, or was it noticeable on road as well? 2. How does unsprung weight affect the ability of the coilovers...

    Toyota Sequoia quest for information...

Not sure of Sequoias, but the Tundra got the VVTI and 5-speed transmission in 2005. 4.7 is a nice and, from all reports, a reliable engine as long as you do preventative maintenance (timing belt and such). Mileage isn't great. My '05 Tundra gets 14 mpg average, 15-16 on a good day, and 9...
