'search' tossed out 'kit' - i gave up!

https://www.clcboats.com/teardrop Seems a little expensive and time intensive, also a little overly complicated. Also I don’t understand people who build a teardrop and then ruin the aerodynamics (which is the whole idea) by mounting a big rack or something to the top. I think if I was gonna...

2000-2006 Suburban 1500-- modify for bigger size 2nd battery?

You might have to temporarily remove the air box and coolant overflow tank(or whatever’s over there) in order to slide in the oversized battery.

2000-2006 Suburban 1500-- modify for bigger size 2nd battery?

https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/07-13-chevy-nnbs-battery-upgrade-h6-to-h8.208710/ Not sure how much this applies to the earlier trucks but it’s worth a look. Note: On your truck the original battery is in the opposite position than the later trucks. My main/original battery is...

Electrical Help Needed > Anyone Mount a Camper on 21 Silverado 2500HD Duramax Yet?

If your 5th wheel wiring is the same as my ‘11 2500hd gasser it’s only about ten gauge. I would think a lithium bank would overwhelm that gauge of wiring pretty quickly. I would do 2 or 4 gauge to something like that redarc. I wonder if it’s even safe to have that factory 10 gauge wire still in...

A Diesel in the New Suburban? Heck Yeah!

I think these diesels in mid size and half ton trucks are about 10-15 years too late.

    Is my steering box bad?

Ordered one off sinister diesel, just under $1000 shipped with core. I’m half expecting them to say whoops we don’t actually have one in stock.

    Camper shell build thoughts?

FYI I fit a standard queen in the back of my ‘11 Chevy with the 6.5’ box, it’s the mattress right out of the bedroom actually. It is a tight fit though, gotta slam the tailgate. I brought the factory fifth wheel wiring up into the back to run RV style 12v led lights and I insulated it with...

Peer check on truck camper solar install

If your batteries are mounted internally and you cant have them off gassing I would go with those sealed AGM types. If the batteries are mounted outside and vented I would go with dual 6v golf cart batteries. The AGM batteries are about $100 more expensive (each)and the only benefit is that...

Second Alternator Charging Lithium Battery Bank

I would just use a B2B(DC to DC) charger, or two, coming off one of the batteries. I don't see a reason to isolate the alternators and draw off of just one. Their voltage is computer controlled and not easily altered for lithium profile. The dual alternators should be able to keep up with a...

A Diesel in the New Suburban? Heck Yeah!

I wonder why they made a whole new engine when they have the 2.8 diesel they put in the 1 ton vans.

    Is my steering box bad?

Well the wheel being off center is a mute point now. After driving the truck 90 miles today it loosened up and it’s almost as sloppy as the old box. I think I’m just gonna go with the redhead. I’m gonna do my 90mile commute tomorrow and think about it. Hopefully I can return this.

Sad End to This Cautionary Tale, As Folks Start to Head Back Out Into the Wilds, Pls Be Careful

When I had a forrester I always considered ditching the donut spare for a full size, never did though. I didn’t off road it either, I’d been afraid to burn up the clutch.

    84 K20 breaks starter/ Missing brace?

Well I figured I’d update if anyone still cared. Went the whole winter without any weirdness from the starter, also put a new battery in at the beginning of the winter. I think that was my problem.

    Is my steering box bad?

Well it sat on the workbench for a month and I decided to install it today. It was a pita. I used a new pitman arm and I must have installed it wrong, I think it can be clocked in four different positions. My wheel is maybe an eighth turn off. I don’t know if I can get the pitman off with the...

Tell me about shore power and converter chargers.

I was thinking along the lines of the batteries being good for x amount of cycles. Would charging the batteries while drawing off of them count as cycling them? idk
