I've had both. As some previous posters have mentioned, a newer crew cab with shell is the way to go. :sombrero: (Of course, my wife drives a 2010 Suburban and would argue with me...until she borrows my truck to pick up a bale of hay.)

And...my wife had the Palm Springs family dates wrong. I get an extra day in the desert with the boys! :wings:

I ran Rancho 9000s for about a year. DID NOT like them. Replaced them with Bilstein 5100s...much better. But (and I'll catch flack for this) the shocks I really liked on my truck were Monroe Magnums. Twin tube, not monotube, but controlled roll slightly better than the Bils. Just another option...

I use a very un-ExPo Coleman Ultimate Xtreme on wheels. It will keep block ice for almost a week if you take care not to open it often for drinks, keep it shaded, etc. My next experiment will be with dry ice. Great value and service for the money, fairly inexpensive. :sombrero:

15 years? Try more like 30! Used one when they first came out as a (heavy) backpacking stove. Blowtorch on high but very adjustable. Good units. :sombrero:

Updates? How did it work out for you?

JetBoil. Compact, "lightweight", 2 -cup integral container, runs like a blowtorch. I still have a working Optimus/Svea from my Boy Scout days. In terms of efficiency, it's a nice museum piece, but you still gotta love them for their ingenuity. :sombrero:

OK...we're still out there following your thread, just catching up with holiday duties, etc. I can relate to chasing problems on the truck. Once I added the bumper/winch and leveled it out I've been busy replacing suspension/steering components. Having 235k miles hasn't helped either. I like...
