Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

Not quickly... Acl was replaced ..but not as good as the original... Is the cab of the truck a three point being as short as the cab part is? I can not find a lot of literature about these design. Sofar only " overland camper" by Steve Wigglesworth. It would seem that the connection points...

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

Best wishes for Jemima, it is ashame that that happened while working on a project together. My wife once jumped out of the bed of our truck, while helping me unload, landed twisted and tore her ACL. I am very curious how you are measuring the location of the several pivot joints on your...

Thank you, Yes they take life with less worries and more zen. Rosie is a master for sure. Today I pulled the shattered windshield. The reason I was posting my small disaster was that I wondered how one of the super insulated glued boxes would have held up in this kind of accident.. The other...

So far good.. she has been with us as a rescue from 4 months old . She is no 11-1/2.. gets slower. Hips seem to be good but nevertheless has lost some stability in the rear ( before the accident)... The engine seems to be running ok. Although it takes 6 sec to start..before. immediately..will...

Probably,. I doubt that many heavy duty overlanders would do better of road..to big and to heavy.. Anyhow the 404 with bus marriage is more a fun project and also very small. Although with all the other projects it is going slower then I would like to see.. nice enough my wife and oldest...

I am temporarily diverting this thread in another build ..about 4 posts.. We used to have a 4*4 camper based on a 1994 E350 ambulance raised roof ..7.3 IDI. WVO. After an engine failure due to a broken sepentine and overheating resulting in a head gasket failure we decided to go to anE350...

nice batteries.. I am ready to get 32 as well. seems that the 280Ah is the best form factor for my application. Did you get them thru alibaba? Did you have to be involved in the import of the cells. 32 to the USA would be $3300 but then there is the import and duties and maybe transport in the...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

That looks amazing. Are you going to bring the lift eye higher up. It seems that with the weight of the tires you would be below the center of gravity. How does it work when you are of balance with one tire shredded? Love the panel recesses in the tire carrier .. another starwars flashback

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Lain, I had to look back a little in your thread. So if I understand correctly your truck is 12 Volt. What alternators are on the truck. The F on the alternator for field does not have to mean that it actually senses the battery voltage thru it. It could be that it just provides the power to...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Thank you diplostrat, 11-1/2 and going rescue since puppy, a good comrade. I am not up to spec on the latest B2B abilities and it might b e harder when both starter and house are lithium. The key is current control so that the alternator does not overheat.. Here are some folks in the...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Lian, instead of a larger alternator I think it would be better to use your current alternator and set it up to control the max current. In theory alternator are current limiting because of the AC and the self induction of the coils.... but for long maximum current they fail from overheating...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Well if you do no really need the power. Not having one keeps it KISS. It is the trip[ that matters .. not the destination.. Sorry just watched some old starwars movies with the kids.. still in Jedi mood.. with a couple of beers. Johan

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Nice that is sound deadening. appeared trouble some Lain, i am no expert but have some experience with other lithium chemistries that we used when we build our electric cars with. we used batteries from a Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt. They are a little more finicky . Cells used in factory electric...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

If you are adventurous you could use the battery / environment temp sensor that is build in the voltage regulator and put it on the alternator. Higher temp result in lower voltage according with lead acid batteries... how thick is the metal on your cab mount.. it looks a little crusty?l Also...

1958 Unimog 404 with cabover flex

Busy with a lot of things but not with this conversion. Nevertheless we are creeping forward... A beer tank seem to be a nice addition to any vehicle. Today i cut the last skirt of the side of the bus. Also all the body mounts are now loose. The bus body is 82" high.. that is including solar...

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

By chance I have an image of the roof of both of our buses. The yellow schol bus in the rear has the 325 watt, I bought the panels with out frame ( cheaper) and made my own but I am going to put an M6 Stainless threaded rod in the center over the panels as to prevent the panels being sucked...

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

Nice lithium, Nice solar panels. I would be a little nervous with such large panes of glass that vibration and wind might damage it. we have 3x 325 Watt panels on our small bus and sofar they are OK but on my second bus we used 16 x 75 watt panels ( because we had those left over) I do like the...
