    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Well, not much progress here toward a decision. Post was made that a Bronco with 35's could travel over washboard roads at 60 mph and would ride much better than an F-150. Pure horsepucky! My son has the big bronco, 35's, twin turbo, rag top, Sasquash model and I've ridden it many times...

    Cotton Clothing?

I like Haynes T-shirts, neck stays in shape, xl fits me nicely. Just good ole Levi jeans seem to be the go to pants for outdoors, but Carhart pants are better but for colder weather. I have Woolrich shirts and sweater type jackets, wool wears best, some of these are probably older than many...

I can't answer about that camper, but as to canvas sides..... I had the honor of playing in 12 to 16 feet of snow at 52 degrees below zero with the 10th Mountain Division, (17th Avn & 110th MI) at Ft. Drum. While we had a few nights in snow caves most of the field duty was in a tent...

    Noobie Seeking Advice

I'll pass on a name here, a guy I listen to about solar stuff, "Professor Hobo" he's the reason I went with a 2000+ watt Bluetti and it has a max input of 700 watts by panels (can be charged with shore power, gen set and panels at the same time). This set up will run an RV roof A/C pretty much...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

But, one of the basic reasons to buy a truck is the ability to tow. Someday, if you hang in this pastime, you'll want to tow something. Most important, the ability to carry a load, be that a load of food, water and gear or just a load of BS.

I'd suggest you not fall for the "Expo" bling. If you are concerned about your health or, like me, are just getting older with aches and pains, go for comfort, a truck that rides, drives, hauls nicely without mods. The best truck is a reliable truck, that generally means a bone stock truck...

What inspired you to indulge in expedition travel?

Gotta say, the site is probably named to make it as exciting for those seeking adventure from a recliner. When the goal is to drive your full mod vehicle over an area that thousands have traversed before you, you need to add something to get attention. Selling the sizzle, not the bacon is the...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Sorry @jaywo, had to snicker at those excuses about towing. It's a skill, requires a bit of practice. Tight spot (how often does that really happen).....disconnect the trailer, pivot it around by hand or use a winch, then hook up and off you go. Anyplace you can turn that Bronco around I can...

He must be in Manitoba or Kansas and that's not a pontoon boat...... :))

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Can't haul the pontoon boat behind a motorcycle!

Citroen build it yourself new EV

My golf cart is faster, the power wheel chair is almost as fast, ok, my riding mower is slower but it can pull a trailer.

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

BTW, pickup beds are made to haul motorcycles, not campers, get a trailer. :)

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Full size, like an F 150 is the minimum for a "camping/overlanding/cruising" truck, IMO. Loved my Dodge Dakota/318 v8, 4x4 extended cab, it pulled a 5000 boat out of the lake with little effort and it had a 6' bed. BUT, the cab was still small for a days driving on trips, mpg wasn't any better...

In Support of a Household 120V Fridge in a Camper?

I've had an LG bar fridge on my boat (I had to laugh at the mention of "G Forces" riding in a vehicle) as it has worked fine for about 6 years, still works well. I'm sure your potholes don't break the pickle jar like slapping 3' swells on a pontoon boat! In the Sundancer (50' Sea Ray) we had a...

During a build - containing costs

Proper prior planning prevents pis# poor performance. I have been buying stuff I might possibly need for unknown projects for years, as an example, I picked up 50' 30 amp electrical cord for an RV camper two years ago at a garage sale, didn't own a travel trailer or an "RV". Last week bought a...

What inspired you to indulge in expedition travel?

I didn't answer the question did I? "Expedition" travels, I don't, neither do 95% of the folks on this site, at least according to this site's definition. I'm not going on any scientific, military, geographical study, no formal educational purpose other than my own curiosity. :) Full time...
