Specific Question - 2m antenna, ARB Mount

Thanks Gary, I'll look into the antenna - 7 ft may be a bit high for me - at the moment, the 5W handheld is what I have but I'll be upgrading to a higher powered mobile - permanent mount - later in the year. -a

Specific Question - 2m antenna, ARB Mount

Hi folks, New Amateur here in Canada - I have a double cab tacoma that I really really don't want to drill a hole in the roof of. I do however have an ARB bullbar on the front with two built in antenna mounts. I'm planning on using 2M in the truck with a permanently mounted mobile - I have a...

Need ground tent sleep padding solution.

x2 on the REI sleeping pads - I have 2 of the 2.5" ones - I have an older model which is R5.6 and with one of the sleeping pads in my bivy bag and me in the down sleeping bag in the bivy bag makes for a comfortable night - even in a snowbank.

    '63 LR Series IIa

it's so clean to me it looks like they haven't put any fluids in it yet :) (i.e. no leaks) very nice specimen but I'd be scared to drive it in case I scratched it up. Not like my old one - a delivery truck tried to edge past me in my old series and dragged his passenger mirror along the side of...

    Doc's AT FlipPac Build Thread

You'll need the fly. When I lived in the bay area with an old old wildernest (similar to a Flippac but different), I didn't know it wasn't waterproof until late one night in the eastern Sierra Madre. For the flippac, the fly makes it water resistant. View the thread below for a discussion on...

Mattress is held in place with velcro on the back end of it. (velcro from back of mattress to fibreglass side) I don't pack bedding away but I'd imagine you could fix straps on their side to strap it in. -a

    Tacoma bed covers

Hey Marty, I have a new flip pac on my 2010 tacoma and I had the same issue - all I did was use a little more foam tape to cover up the holes. But leave the plastic bed caps off - had it originally on an 09 tacoma but switched to the 10 (went from a 4cyl 5 speed 4x4 access cab to an automatic...

    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

hey I used the primative skid plates on my '98, as well, I went with P205/75/R15 Dunlops on mine when I had it - no lift and no rub but I was on pavement/gravel secondaries with nothing hairy. The 15" steelies just cleared the brakes in front but ran fine. Subscribing to this one - it'll be...

    Subaru Forester

From what I understand the engine issue to be here goes. the 2.5l engine from 98 to 02 was good so long as you were going to do the head gaskets yourself - the issue was an open deck so you had oil/coolant/combustion gas mixing. Mine I didn't notice until the car over heated on the highway -...

    Subaru Forester

I concur - the timing belt is easy enough to do - It took me about as long to do the timing chain in my old 22R as it did for the forester and I took the engine out to do it. There's loads of writeups on the step by step for the replacement.

    Subaru Forester

I had a '98 - the '98, iirc, were the first year for the 2.5l engines which were notorious for head gaskets, mine blew both (I bought it used) I think the 03+ are the ones to look for. Easy to work on, (park vehicle, and 4 hours later, engine on a pallet in the driveway) solid vehicle and...
