Show us where you drink your coffee with Monti.

"If God wanted us to enjoy the sunrise, he would have scheduled it for later in the day." - somebody, somewhere...I can't remember (where's my coffee?)

Expedition BC - Our Experiences Overlanding and Camping with Young Kids.

Looks like a great setup between the Sequoia and the trailer. Spot on with the tips and tricks for traveling with the kids. We've learned the same lessons traveling with our young ones...and continue to learn new ones as they grow and present new challenges.

Anyone care to help categorize Monteros?

I'd like to help. I've been gathering info from the FSM on the myriad of different sensors for the Gen3 Montero. I did a lot of testing and different things with them this past year and took a bunch of pictures I was going to use to put together some write-ups for this and the ADD forum. They...

Is there somebody sitting on the top of that arch?

    Sepstero's 2003 Montero Build Thread

Thanks for sharing the report, Sepstero. Same year and color as mine. Aside from the Brake ECU issue, glad to hear that the '03 has escorted you so far for so long.

3rd Gen Montero Roof Rack Rail Replacement

People do it either way...most have just used the factory rails. They're only "rated" for 100 pounds, but they've been tested by many here beyond that without issue. I don't know if the RTS tracks claim to increase your roof's payload capacity. I personally put one of Rhino Rack's steel mesh...

3rd Gen Montero Roof Rack Rail Replacement

And I can't for the life of me find the thread of the guy that installed the Rhino Rack RTS tracks on his Gen3. It came out good though. Fit perfect.

3rd Gen Montero Roof Rack Rail Replacement

Sabre and ImNoSaint have detailed write ups for the process of getting the roof rails out. I don't have the links in front of me right now, but if you check the Sticky of Montero build threads 2.0 at the top of the forum it will get you to their build threads. The Gen3, unlike the Gen2s...

I think a lot of people are going to be getting that email. They must have missed a zero or something when that guy put it up on their website.

Did you order one of those cheap awnings from Walmart that had all the Facebook groups abuzz yesterday? A six foot awning for $13...crazy. As far as tire size goes, I currently have 265s with no complaint (but also no lift). I think the 265s look small in the wheel well after a lift, and plan...

    3rd Row?

Definitely needs a roof rack. We found that the truck was a good "Don't Overpack" size. We do five day trips with the family and find that we can take everything we need to be fully self-sufficient. You just have to be smart about what you take and where you put it...cuz you'll run out of space...

    3rd Row?

This man speaketh the truth! I would not recommend any Gen Montero for Daily Driver (Big) Family Duty...at least if there are multiple car seats involved. We've got a minivan for that. The Montero is for the fun trips every once in a while...or for when the boys just want to ride in something...

    3rd Row?

[url=https://flic.kr/p/Ema36D] Can't speak for a Gen2, but we've been carting around our horde of boys for two plus years in our '03. We made it work when all four were still in car seats. Super tight. Like ImNoSaint said, it is frustrating getting belts buckled. I wouldn't necessarily...

I forgot to mention the Gear Appreciation Festival...bad name for what's basically an overlander flea market / campout event held on the weekend of March 9-11 in Jefferson City, TN. It might be a great place for you to score some really good deals on some gear or parts for you big trip or maybe...

    the R T T thread who has a favorite ?

Yeah, we've run into Jeff & Kate Oliver a few times over the last two years and they've always been kind and helpful to our family. I bought the trailer off Tommy Clapp with BOLD Overland (they're a great family of folks too). CVT has a shop right there in Chattanooga near you. Bobby Culpepper...

Good news. Glad to hear they ironed out the gremlins. The S.M.O.R. looks like fun, and the guys putting it on are really great guys. Hope to see you there. It's a rare day to run into a Montero adventurer in my neck of the woods.

How's the trip prep coming along? Did you ever figure out your cylinder 6 misfire issue? When's the Argentina trip scheduled to go down? If you're still in country at the end of April maybe think about attending the Smoky Mountain Overland Rally in East Tennessee. My family and I will be there...

    the R T T thread who has a favorite ?

It's not an apples to apples comparison since we were using a different tent with the roof rack setup (an HEO Glasgow Ground Tent, similar to the OZ RV-3 or RV-5), but in going from 13 to 13.5 mpg I figure the trailer will pay for itself right before the aluminum it's made from dissolves back...
