Man so I just did it. Forget 3 minutes...add like 30 minutes. I can see getting better at this but it's time consuming. Still though it's the best rack in my opinion. This exoskeleton system from other companies is super heavy.
You are right...the rear drive shaft is perfectly fine if you had the foresight to move the evap tray. I read on the inter web that you couldn't order the rear plastic boot and that you would need to replace the entire drive shaft. Well a quick call to my dealer right now confirmed that I am...
Yea you just undo a couple bolts on the roll cage bracket and lift the entire rack off with the hard top. I'd say it adds 3 minutes to the process. It's obviously not compatible with a soft top which I don't have anyway. If you are going to be removing the roof a lot I'd go with a different...
UConnect offers two radios for the Jeep, the basic nav unit is the 430N and the high end nav unit with XM weather and traffic and other features is the 730N. It has a much faster interface apparently. You can add the MyGig to either one.
So here is an update on some items:
1. I found out that the stock rear drive shaft is not really meant to stay on the truck if you lift it. It is just two thick and the rubber boot impacts the EVAP tray under full flex. So I learned that the hard way. I moved the EVAP tray and ordered a...
Thanks. So the AEV rack is awesome. I'm really happy with it. Here are some detail photos below:
As for the AEV snorkel...It's really a smart system. It is completely independent of the hood system. You would just pop out one of the heat reduction hood sides leaving a port for the...
I don't know if it was more cost effective or not. The problem was that I couldn't find the exact Jeep in the color, fully loaded Rubicon build, and didn't want to wait until AEV finished their move to the new building just to get started on mine. Working with Pollard directly and being able...
Okay so I don't own her a day and I am already taking a roto-band to the stock Rubicon rock rails. AEV should provide a list of "things you don't have to do but should do after getting your JK350 premium lift installed." Like modifying the exhaust to clear the front drive shaft or in my case...
Well comparing a 1993 Defender to a 2014 JK isn't really a fair comparison. The Defender doesn't have front sway bars which makes them great off road but a little tippy on the road. I had an OME HD lift on the Defender which helped from stock but still was a bit of a handful if you did carry...
Got her today. I'm speechless. All I keep asking my self is why on earth didn't I switch to Jeep earlier. Not that I didn't enjoy every minute of both Discovery and Defender projects I did in the past but I feel that I will actually enjoy this one the most. Everything is so easy and...
Another batch of photos came in today. The guys from Pollard Motors and Cory Sellers are doing an amazing job with this build. It's getting very close to being completed...this phase at least.
What part is C's referring to? It is my understanding that the AEV JK350 setup with 35"s is one of the most trail tested set ups on the market. I know first hand that AT Overland has built and tested this kit extensively. If they would have thought that anything beyond the standard JK350 set...
Haha. Well said...however it's not the greatest to cook where you sleep. Your roof top tent smelling like food sucks. It's a minor investment to just try it out. Of course I will report back.
