    Bowen NotSoFlat Bed Revisited

Just to clarify, that is an 8’ bed and camper, but on a short bed truck.

Thanks! It was humbling and an honor that Mike gave the rig that recognition.

F-350 Configuration for Truck Camper Build (NorthStar 850SC)

As you know, the secret to a leaf pack like a Deaver or an Alcan is that they’re progressive. The stock F350 has 4 leaves. My Deaver has 13! There are plenty of trucks out there with suspension “upgrades” that drive terribly. My guess is that the majority of them do. If you find a shop that...

F-350 Configuration for Truck Camper Build (NorthStar 850SC)

A good suspension replacement will be better off road AND on road. @BretEdge and @montypower can both attest to that fact. They both have highly modified rigs, as do I. I’d never stick with the stock Ford suspension.

Various 67 Designs Pieces - SOLD

I put a hybrid BuiltRight/67 Designs setup on my Super Duty. Unfortunately, the dash piece isn't strong enough to hold an iPad and phone without bouncing and squeaking. I'm keeping the BuiltRight and a InReach mount, but moving the rest over to ProClip mounts. The 67 Designs stuff isn't the...

Help: Carli/Deaver Rear Springs 06 Ram

Respectfully, I'm underwhelmed with this justification. Essentially they pay to play. Just because others don't doesn't mean they aren't as good or better than OEM. The thing the OEM argument leaves out is that every single OEM piece has pricing pressure. They can't simply put "the best" part...

    WTB Hallmark Milner

One of the many reasons that I switched to Hallmark ?

    WTB Hallmark Milner

They only produce 60-80 per year. Contrast that to FWC churning out 1400 per year and it’s going to be a long shot, especially in Canada. If you’re willing to travel, Hallmark takes units on trade occasionally, and they have a page where people advertise used ones. Good luck...

    Truck Camper that Sleeps 4?

Anything shorter than 8’ is going to be TIGHT with 4 people, no matter their size. There are quite a few 8’ options with COGs far enough forward that they can be carried on 6.5’ beds, the Hallmark being but one example.

    Truck Camper that Sleeps 4?

Hallmark Guanella, but with a bunk. It’s 8’, on a short bed, but the Bowen Customs bed replacement is 8’. The wheelbase is 148”. It’s bigger than the Supertramp, has a real cassette and not a porta potty, and is very good in the winter. I know a guy that had one above the Arctic Circle for 6 weeks.

If you had to do it AGAIN...

I essentially had your truck, a 2008 Silverado 1500 LTZ with 150,000. I replaced it with a fully built 2022 F350. Why? I wanted a bigger camper and didn’t have the carrying capacity. I had enough faith in it that my son has it. Barring the carrying capacity issue, I would have kept it. I...

2021 Ford F250 Tremor Adventure Rig

I‘m not answering for Bret. He’ll chime in. What I will say though is that picking a camper is very personal. “Better” depends on the non-negotiables the individual buying the camper defines. For us, neither Supertramp or FWC met our needs. We ended up with a Hallmark. That said, Supertramp...

2021 Ford F250 Tremor Adventure Rig

Check out Dragon Fly Tarps. I faced the same dilemma, instant shade vs. wind, trees, or rocks ripping it off and causing camper damage. The Dragon Fly Haku doesn’t go up as quickly, but it is by far the most wind resistant option and it can pitch independently of the truck. It‘s also much...

F150 3.5L Ecoboost HDPP vs SuperDuty

First, you need to know that EVERYONE fudges their numbers. Payload numbers are always higher than they really are. Curb weights are always lower, and Camper numbers are always lower. A fully wet and loaded Kenai will weigh about 2000 lbs. according to Truck Camper Magazine. (The Truck Camper...
