New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Yeah, in the Niagara Region, • Density 232.6 people /km2 (602/sq mi). While not "big city", it's not "wide open space" either.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

It's not all bad, but I do end up driving the same highways headed north many times through the year, so I can get to nice places like this: IMG_2068 by Ryan Jakob, on Flickr

Colorado - full locking dif vs. auto locking dif

I had a 2008 GMC with the auto locker, and now a 2018 GMC with the auto locker. I do understand what you mean about the automatic locking differential trying to kill in slippery conditions. With an open differential, when one wheel loses traction, it spins, while the other stays planted, and...

Same with my neighbourhood. It's not shocking, given that there is nowhere to go off roading leagally anhywhere near where I live.

Colorado - full locking dif vs. auto locking dif

The auto locker works very well in sand, mud, snow, ice, and other low traction surfaces you will come across off road. It can be a little awkward in rock crawling situations, as getting enough wheel spin to get it to lock can seem somewhat "against the rules" of off road driving. You just...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

My wife is not an automotive enthusiast, but does like vehicles with a distinct appearance. She had her eye on the upcoming Jeep truck. But, the other day she said: Her: Ryan, I don't think I like the Jeep truck. Me: What don't you like about it? Her: The bed is too short. Neither of us are...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

What I'm learning, from watching all the new off road marketed vehicles coming onto the market, is that there must be a lot of people out there that make a lot more money than me, and use very different thought processes when making their spending decisions. I'm done with being outraged every...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

I don't think Jeep needs to compete with Chevy on price to sell a lot of Gladiators. You can't just install a cheap lift in a Colorado, and run 37s.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

That's a neat look, but maybe a little too polarizing for the general public. Enthusiasts would probably praise it, but I'm not sure Jenny the yoga instructor would love it.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

It looks as expected. I'm looking forward to seeing them hit the roads and trails. I'd like to see some pictures of inside the bed. I wonder how much the wheel wells will intrude on cargo space.

Here's the ad I'm talking about. Note, how pictured, is a crew cab, which definitely cannot haul 3,000 lb... 150 payload by Ryan Jakob, on Flickr

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Passenger cars especially are coming very well equipped in base trims. But, the tech has even moved into base pickups, which historically have been more utilitarian. My Base trim Sierra has a 7" touch screen. I would have cringed at that 10 years ago, but honestly, I do like my backup camera...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Unlike the wrangler, the pickup will be rated to tow in the neighbourhood of 7,000 lb, so the drivetrain can only be so weak.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

I really don't understand payload ratings on new half ton trucks. Even the 2019 F150 4x4 with it's lightweight aluminum body can only haul 1,270 lbs in Limited trim. That's an embarrassment, since I'm seeing tons of ads pop up advertising the F150's amazing 3,270 lb payload....

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

No doubt the Rubicon will be expensive, but it sounds like the Sport will still be targeting the "lifestyle" buyer, and not trying to compete on price with base trim level Colorados, Rangers, and Frontiers.

Is there something between a teardrop and a regular caravan?

I have a nuCamp T@b CS-S, and I love the experience. I did not buy it for adventures off of the beaten path though. They make a lifted version, called the Boondock. The added height does open up some slightly more rugged dispersed camping spots. Taking trailers off road is not really my...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

I'm a little bit excited for this release. It seems like it's been a long time in the making. I don't think there are too many surprises left at this point though, as so much information has been released already, along with many renderings, which I suspect will prove to be mostly accurate...

Chevrolet offering serious off-road performance parts for the ZR2 in 2019, never seen this kind of OEM support

No doubt, the pricing is very high, but I still think it is very cool that GM is coming forward with this level of performance parts. The OEM and aftermarket support the current ZR2 is seeing, is an extreme contrast to the limited offerings for the first gen Colorado, or even the S10.
