Hmm, I would say that they're probably talking about with their springs. I think with 35s you can get by fine with a 4" lift. But If you want the 6" lift then go for it, it's you're truck, make it yours! For reference, here is a stock K20 Sub with 285/75R16 (So about 32.5" tires) with the...

2000 Astro Van AWD Engine / Trans Replacement.

It's also my understanding you can replace the AWD with an S10 transfer case and front axle. You'll have to google it.

    Blueberry Supreme - '86 K20 Suburban

All right All right, you've all guilted me into it. I'll keep the Burb, just don't tell the wife. But seriously, all this means is for the mean time I'm putting this project on hold. It wheels awesome as it sits, it's just not as fun for long trips due to the lack of an OD. El Gordo, keep the...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

That I know, I guess I meant the external pivots specifically. Usually they were internal hinges. The more I look at it, I'm thinking Chevy/GMC, but something big but not COE either. We should all road trip out and investigate further! EDIT: FOUND IT! Chevy Military Truck Roughly 1941

    Leaf spring selection

While agree with Kingsize, Deaver is my preferred choice I can understand the cost might be out of some peoples willingness. Since this a squarebody we're talking about, I would consider ORD's opinion to be the best. They have their custom springs made by Atlas like you said, but you don't like...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Awesome trip! I'm pretty sure the cab is from a late 30s early 40s Ford Truck, the flip up windshield is a giveaway.

I'd get ridiculed at work for buying a Ford. The only Ford I'm interested is in my 1970 Early Bronco. There just isn't anything else like an early bronco.

Thank you sir. Trying to fight the urge to buy huge tires and a lift kit. If I go big tires, I'm going SAS, so I can do some serious rock crawling in Moab. Though the guys at work tell me they do completely fine in Moab stock.

How so? "Worst" case scenario I'm doing an LS/4l80e swap on the suburban! Seriously though, I like squarebodies (and I'll try to find a single cab to have fun with) but the newer Sub just suits what I want out of a vehicle. Plus I'm trying to prolong selling the 86 until my wife forgets we...

    Blueberry Supreme - '86 K20 Suburban

So more info regarding the white suburban. It's a 2001 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0/4L80E and about 163K miles. It's not perfect, but it has some better features for my intended use of such a vehicle (DD/Family Adventure). So far I haven't found any mechanically troubling issues. I'm going to add...

I agree, a 6.0/6L90 is a better option for a powertrain. I just meant if I was looking for a stock package truck a 1991 K20 Sub has what I want (FI, OD, Solid Axles). Dream suburban would be a 6.0/6L90/ORD Magnum/205 with D60/14BFF on 38" tires with only about 4" of lift.

40s would be fun. I just found a gmt400 suburban that I hope I will be able to purchase. It’s so clean that it makes me want to do bad things to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks! A 1991 K20 is my holy grail, fuel injection and a 4l80e. I'll buy a clean one on the spot if I find one.

Started working on the bumper as well. Step 1: Buy material Step 2: Remove stock bumper. Step 3: Rethink life's decisions. Step 4: Make templates. No one is that good. Step 5: Turn templates into steel. Use magic wand if available. Step 6: Make a duplicate, you need two dummy. Step 7...

    Blueberry Supreme - '86 K20 Suburban

Took another trip this past weekend to Picacho State Recreation Area outside of Winterhaven, CA. The road into the area is a nicely graded gravel road that any truck with a boat trailer could make it in. Took the river outlook "trail" out. They recommend 4wd but I didn't really need it...
