I picked up a Xantrax 2000w pure sine wave AC inverter for a price I couldn't pass up earlier this year. I haven't installed it yet cause in all the places I want to install it in my trailer, while projected directly from the elements, doesn't guarantee there won't be any that would make it...
I was starting to get frustrated since I hate having to ask for help, and took a few bypasses around some of the mud holes where I could. The stockers in the back where complaining that we were tearing up the trail by the time they got though. They weren't wrong.
The picture that follows was...
Fortunately it was a little over an hour away for us, so it wasn't too bad for the fact that we left late and would get a good night sleep. Oddly, in almost 10 years, this is the first time that I'm camping and that I'm not the only person using a roof top tent.
We didn't pack the warm...
A few pics of my latest outing. The trailer performed beautifully and as long as I had grip I had no problem and it followed me everywhere. . The problem was when it came to mud. If I have to paddle through stuff like sand and deep mud, the trailer becomes an anchor. To be expected really.
With the brakes technically done, it was time to get some work done on the truck. I was working pretty crazy (as always) for about 3 weeks trying to finish up the truck while working on a haunted maze for our gang of the haunted house for family-friendly event. I reinstalled the roof rack with...
That looks to be an old 18v NiMH battery charger.
They do make 12v car chargers for their 12v/20v lithium batteries as well

Dewalt hasn't been bad for battery changes, they used their 18v for a...
It's an interesting idea, and I do love the idea of an alarm that engages the brakes, but I see several problems.
First is just the need for power. This advertises "No more cables to damage or rip out, no more corroded terminals and no more loose connections", but the unit needs power. You'll...
Indeed. Thanks for the tag ;)
I made myself a level drop down carrier. I like it and works well. It's trailer hitch mounted so I can remove it if need be.
I finished up the hydraulics Monday like I wanted to. You may excuse the odd loop. I decided to run the main line inside the tubing with the wiring to protect it, but was worried that if I was to have a leak, that the fluid would follow the line, so I made a "drip loop" in case. There's nothing...
First time the wheels have been taken off in a few years. Time to get this started
What was left of the original braking system. Wasn't sure how I was going to go about doing this when I had planned for this build, but left it in case. Now, it'll all going to get removed, brackets and all...
Picked up most of the braking components. Drums, pads, spring kit, cylinders and the line with a few fittings. I'm still missing the flex line and associated fittings, but should come in within the next day or two.
First day of the year in shorts! While we did host a mother's day lunch for the girlfriend's family, I did get some time in the afternoon to start prepping to get some work done before truly starting the seasons. Weather is on the up and time to take advantage of it!
The reason why I went...
The next big piece for getting functional brakes on the trailer, is to actually have a way to control them. I've been thinking about installing a brake controller in the Xterra almost since the start, but not only did I have no need, but I couldn't really decide on where to install it without...
I got a Sunday Campers Chinese awning. It's going on 3 years that I've had it. It did get caught in the wind during deployment and blew out the hinges. They use the same ones at Foxwing and I ordered the SuperFlex from Darche in Australia as replacements.
I guess they heard ya! ;)
Perfect, thank you!
A few new things have arrived.
A great find thanks to my good friend Fred. A Xantrex 2000w pure sine wave inverter. I know it's been part of my plans for this trailer, but hasn't been a priority. I was thinking about the Canadian Tire 1000w model...
Thanks! For the moment I'm keeping things compact, which requires something custom, but I've also still have a lot of wiring left to do, and make a proper electric box and panel, when I figure out that detail. I've got the wires ran, but need to install LED's to light up inside the bed. I've...
;)
Hehe, I didn't realize you liked the idea that much. It was part of the initial design, and I had planned for the electric-hydraulic brakes from the get-go as well, and actually ordered the actuator this week; the last of the big pieces of the trailer project. The awning and Webasto being...
I've ran them for many years, since around 2004 I'd say. They were Red Tops and worked well for several years. I had bought yellows for my car to replace them, but the car never saw the road again. I sold one and put another in the Xterra, a year later I bought a second one. They did last also...
