Thuren rear track bar is ordered!!
Install instructions make it look pretty straight forward, is there any tricks I should know about going into the install?
You say that now. It sounds crazy but these trucks fit 37's really easy and look right IMO. They have Large wheel wells
Edited: realized you have a 3500 not a 2500. You wont need bags or Timbrens.
Viair has a sweet setup I'll be going with for air. 20016 is the part number. The specs look like...
Hey now, you have to give credit where credit is due! AEV is great for the mall and fire roads
Another +1 for Thuren and Carli.
Also, Synergy is finally starting to release a bunch of stuff they have been working on for the past couple years. So keep an eye on them too
I too have a R50 and have been trying to find as much information on these things. Such a sweet/affordable platform, I don't know why they aren't more popular here in the US. I see you are in Australia I am jealous of the aftermarket support that you have over there. Post some pictures!
Anyway...
Finished up the wiring on the camper and have it all back together. The next steps are new bed pads and re-do the side couch back into a fold out bed.
Also, the front end of my truck got a little heavier
It could depending on the tip. I used a smoothing tip which has a larger surface area than the standard style. I doesnt look pretty but I didnt have any issues and all the metal is still there.
I had to do both sides. The passenger was an immediate squeak as soon as the sliders went on but the...
I don't like the idea of completely removing the metal in that area since that's your body mount for the cab. I would recommend using the air hammer with a "smoothing" tip if you can to just push the metal back and out of the way. Air hammers can be had at harbor freight for $15. It was good...
I think you have mentioned it before and that’s what has gotten me to finally cave and do it. Every review i have seen sounds really positive and people claim it fixes the only things i dislike about my truck. I’m excited to get it ordered and on the truck before the next trip!
The Carli stabilizers will correct a pull caused by the tires straight out of the packaging. I hear the pressure is so high that if you lift the front of the truck without securing the wheels they will push to full lock without any input.
Thuren's stabilizer out of the box is set to track...
The Carli Steering stabilizers are the ones that push/pull.
I also have the Thuren stabilizer installed. No pull when I had the Grabbers or now that I have the MT's.
@Big Ern, I have heard that about Thuren's rear track bar. That and a truss should be going on mine before the end of the month
@Dalko43 From my understanding, Thuren is currently in the prototyping stage for the rear springs for the 3500. I am not sure when they will release it though. I have seen posts before of people running all of Thuren's parts and putting Carli's leafs in the back and some just leave the stock...
So not to derail your thread, but out of curiosity does AEV regear the XL's? Or are you running on 3.42's like most of us?
To redeem myself and stay on topic, yea those tanks are sweet!
The Carli suspension is a true 3" but think of it like it levels the front end then takes the whole truck up 1" (3" in front, 1" rear). In my opinion it isn't a lift, its a suspension system and it corrects a lot of the geometry to help with more travel. The truck rides like a dream now on and...
I almost have all of my wiring done.
7 pin trailer plug is added and sealed up with a junction box being inside the camper
Battery isolator is in
Shore power outlet is moved and hidden
5A battery tender is plugged into the shore power outlet
Added 12v outlet with 4 USB ports and wired in a...
A popular spot is in the spare tire location. A 35" will fit but once you go 37" you have to go with other methods to carry a full size spare leaving some prime real estate ready for mods.
I was thinking about making a dual battery mount plate with a box on each side for the batteries with a...
Exactly! I looked for a can with the longest nozzle I could find and put it everywhere I could. If you have used the foam before, im sure you know that a little bit goes a long way..
The foam actually helped significantly. I was surprised. I put the foam in between the middle and outer layer of...
