    Best Fridge

Insulation is the key, also top loader is more efficient, as with a front door all the cold pours out when you open it. I have a "minus 40" from South Africa, now 23 years old! runs on 12 or 24 volt also 240v its been well used round Africa and Europe over the years in the Land Rover. I run an...

I also have an involvement with refrigerated trucks operating in the Congo and Senegal, these are often 12 years old when exported from this country! They still hold up to the daily rigors of those environment.

I think it largely it depends on how the panels are joined! The panels themselves are all constructed to a set standard,(i a vacume) and in fact, you could say that the commercial truck side is far more likely to come back to the body manufacturer than a single overlander customer if they...

I don`t have a list but when I was doing some research, I found "cold saver panels" a company uk based seemed helpfull, I dont have their number but I am sure they are on the web. The company that I used was "Highbury Horse Boxes" based in Dagnal, Hertfordshire, UK 01442 843569 They may be able...

When it comes down to it, its a box! You decide on the dimensions, After that you have a choice on the material that it is made of, In my mind there is only one option, and that is primarely preformed panels ! But it does not stop there, you need to decide on the thickness, 50mm is a good...

I used a horsebox manufacturer, for two reasons 1) it was only in the next village and I knew the owner 2) I could visit and help, making any changes along the way. when I say horsebox, its not the sort you see on an old Bedford`s parked in a field! they build top of range slide out bodies on 6...

    Unstable Unimog

Ok, sorry guys, forgot that it has torque tubes ect!!! What you could try though, is jacking up alternating wheels and looking for a difference in resistance, that may reveal/pinpoint a broken shaft or diff?

Get someone to take a look underneath (safe distance) hand brake on, put it in gear with the clutch up, ticking over! 1) is rear prop turning? if yes you have rear axle problem. 2) is front prop turning? if yes front axle 3) is prop turning into transferbox (more difficult to see) from gear box...

Visco Fans and how are they supposed to work

Neil is right! you can lock the fan up with that nut if you need too, but it will hit the fuel economy! but better than overheating. Also some have 2 little sliding tags to lock it up with. They are normally sealed units, but if ever you remove/ fit one they must remain in an upright position.

Sitec is right! after 40 years working on trucks what you discribe is most definatley suspension/ axle related, also if it`s as bad as you say, I would be looking towards the rear axle, as that would have a move profound effect, also if this has happened only recently, pay particular attension...

    Lithium and Alternators.

Like pugslyyy said, I too have overcome the problem with a battery to battery charger! as an engineer I think the guys at Mercedes are far better at setting up all the ancilaries on the engine than we will ever be. I have seen to many failures of attempts to fit extra alternators that...

Winch or not and if so sizing of one

Yes I agree, I like the hydraulic winch it's reliable and won't overheat, but like what was said if your motor dies you don't have a winch, but how long will your battery hold out without the motor running? The all else fails back up winch that I was trying to think of was a turfer hand winch

Winch or not and if so sizing of one

The good thing about electric winches is that with a little engineering you can make them detachable so you can have the same winch front or rear with heavy duty electric connections.. I have a hydraulic pro winch on my Land Rover that can go either end. I buried it behind a dune with a g wagon...

I must admit I would like a bit bigger engine, I am going for the 2L 240 bhp its got 430nm torque @1400rpm. all less than I would like but without going for petrol, its the best they do.! I have driven the engine in a Discovery and it feels fine, but not sure what it will be like with...
