    LX 470 is fixed!(I think)

Wow, I don't even know what to think. I wonder if the cap was left in place so the mechanic could reel in more cash. The absent thermostat is also interesting after being at a mechanic. Congrats on the easy fix. It is amazing she is running good!

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

I'll echo the above. I followed the same logic with my tire choice for my Jeep. Previously I ran the STT (original) and put 55k miles on them. Darn impressive for a mud tire in my opinion. The Maxx are smoother and quieter.

    Exploring topless

I have a soft top TJ with the full steel doors and an original Viking top (the rear windows can be stowed in the roof, now sold by Rampage). On a recent trip to Colorado (13 1/2 hour drive) I managed to make it 13 hours in 'safari mode' with the window out and stowed, through two Kansas...

    Backcountry Navigator offline map recommendation?

I have had good luck with the USGS Topo and the US Forest Service maps where available. I'd really like to layer maps in BCN but I don't that that is possible. It is quick and easy to switch out which base map you need as long as you saved all offline maps in the same folder.

Road Trip in July: TX-NM-AZ-Route 66-NV-UT-CO-TX (May Add WY-SD-ND-MN-IA-MO-NE-KS-OK)

I totally understand. I've done the entire route several times and am speaking from experience. I usually have breakfast in Ouray, lunch in Lake City and Dinner in Ouray. The hot springs always feel real good at the end of that day :)

Road Trip in July: TX-NM-AZ-Route 66-NV-UT-CO-TX (May Add WY-SD-ND-MN-IA-MO-NE-KS-OK)

I don't understand your desire to only make it to the tops of Engineer and Cinnamon. Sure, the east sides of the passes are longer, but they are also smoother and faster. Back tracking over California/Hurricane/Corkscrew doesn't make sense to me either. Other routes down are just as beautiful...

Road Trip in July: TX-NM-AZ-Route 66-NV-UT-CO-TX (May Add WY-SD-ND-MN-IA-MO-NE-KS-OK)

You will be a couple of weeks ahead of the wildflower boom in the San Juans based on your itinerary. Not that the views will be less than amazing, you just won't get the full effect. Another spectacular wildflower trial is Stony Pass, which is lesser known and lesser used. I am not familiar...

Any 100 owners complain about power?

I am relatively new to the 100 and did sell a Hemi powered Grand Cherokee for the 100. It certainly doesn't have the 'spunk' the Grand did, but the power band feels unbelievably smooth and consistent. The 100 also has 180k more miles on it. As with any vehicle it could use more power, but more...

Tell Me Why I Shouldn't Buy a WK CRD!

I know you have decided to pass on the WK, but I will help you solidify that decision. I don't think the diesel is any reason to stay away as much as the WK platform itself is. I am an admitted Jeep fan. I grew up with them, I have several, my folks had Jeeps growing up and even my grandfather...

    XJ vs WK Expedition Vehicle

My WK was in the dealer 4 times for that message after the dumb recall was performed. Had new software programing, wire harness work and two shift motors. It worked for a few weeks before I went to Colorado (was a record) so I thought it was fixed. It failed when I was out there. Luckily the...

    XJ vs WK Expedition Vehicle

XJ. I have owned both and loved both. Even though I no longer own either, I do still have two MJs. The WK is a remarkable Jeep, especially when equipped with the Hemi and QDII. QDII does a great job engaging the auto lockers when off the road. It also rides smooth but the seats are...

Android Head Units for mapping, OBD, music etc?

If you would like to get a little $ out of the old unit, please let me know :) I am curious to an Android based radios functionality for me. It was mentioned a few posts up that it comes with a built-in tuner.

    Coleman camp oven?

crossed-up, you need to fold the wind deflector back into the lid of the stove for the oven to sit squarely over the burner. Yes, the corners of the oven will hang over the edge of the stove. You will also regain access to the other burner ;)

    Mount Antero, CO Sep-2015

Realistically you could probably pull a small trailer to the top. After all, excavators climb to the top regularly. However, I wouldn't take a trailer to the top. The last part of the trail is quite steep, loose and tight. There is a large open area just before of final accent at about 12k feet...

Jumping on the Cooper AT3 bandwagon......

I am sorry you are having such a bad time with the AT3 :( The AT3s really are a great tire, along with Cooper in general. I am on my 4th set of Coopers and haven't had any issues. Cooper does have a good warranty, hopefully it will continue work in your favor.

    Coleman camp oven?

Coop - Looks like your best friend is ready for breakfast! I have had great success with the flimsy folding Coleman oven. I use it on a basic 2 burner propane Coleman stove (centered over one burner with the wind screen folded in so the oven will sit square) and have never had a heat problem in...
