    Subcompact Overland Upgrades. '84 Subaru

Loving your wagon build, very nice, still looking like the factory could have done it. -Jon

Sure, what kind of things did you need/want to know? I know of Tim very well, might have even met him once, at a rally, when he was running the national series 5 or 6 years ago. The 3rd gen Celica I buit has a lot of similarities to the Toyota trucks of the time, but mostly is design cencept...

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

The wheels are factory GT-S rims, 14x7. The tires are General Grabber AT2s, 27-8.50x14s. Maybe you could find something more like a 205/75R14 AT or 215/70R14. -Jon

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

The car is an '84 GT model. As for the front grill guard, I designed and built it myself, modeled after the WRC Safari Group B car front end. A build thread is in this forum/section, if you dig down a few pages. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/39512-New-adventure-Toy(ota)-in-AZ -Jon

    New Beetle Baja Build

Not really, it was before I was into posting a ton of build pics. Plus, I built this car for a customer to run ralling in the southwest. If you have questions, I can answer them though, might have some decent pictures too. If it wasn't for the cage in rally cars, they would make great Expo...

    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

Not a lot of big work on the car lately, but more adding to the comfort of driving it. I've been working on putting all the trim panels back in the car to give it an even more finished look and lower the interior noise. I found a decent interior out of an '83 at a local yard, to get the parts...

    New Beetle Baja Build

Here's my idea of an Expo Jetta. (Can't believe he drove away from that one) Here's the lifted, rally Golf GTi I built a few years back. You can get them pretty high up without axle issues. -Jon R.

I will stay tuned... Happy to lend a hand, and get out of the valley for a day. -Jon

    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

I've got plenty of wrenching experience, but not a lot on Subaru engine changing. Most of my GOOD wrenching has all been a rally cars though, so I work well under all conditions. If you are planning on a weekend wrenching session, and need the extra hands, I would be happy to drive up for the...

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

Thanks. It was fun getting to drive the car around SoCal and letting friends, family and local Celica forum guys see the car in person. I spend a good bit of time in SoCal, but this was the first time I had time to wonder around a bit in the Celica, usually busy going to rallies. -Jon a few...

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

Cool. Love the looks of the 1st gens, but I'm not sure I would do to one of those that I did to my '84. -Jon

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

Love the Chanook, neat bit of Toyota history. I'm not planning on winning anything, just something fun to do, see some friends, and COOLER weather. (100 degrees in Phx the last couple of days) -Jon

Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

I know it's not expedition related, but should be fun. I'll be there with my crazy Celica on display, trying to help promote rallying and expedition travel in SoCal. Stop by and say HI, if your in the area and looking for something to do that day...

    Subcompact Overland Upgrades. '84 Subaru

Great work so far. I wish my rig had enough length inside for sleeping, but living in the SW, tent camping isn't so bad. -Jon

    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

Been a long time since I've done an update. I'm getting the car ready for an all Toyota show out in Long Beach next month, so I've been adding more structure, cleaning parts up and painting the raw metal that was still under the car. I built a triangulated front tower bar to stiffen up things...

Expo Celica in Ridgecrest CA, Part 2

Another memorable rally experience, again as the Course Closing Car/Fast Sweep/999, in the Celica. Until February, I had never been up to Ridgecrest Ca.. From Phoenix, it's a decent haul, just shy of 500 miles via the southern route across I-10. My girlfriend and I decided it would make the...

Short trip in the Expedition Celica

Right, just the 2wd/RWD version, same chassis as the Group B Celica, without the crazy turbo charged engine. The rear axle started leaking a bit of oil out the driver's side backing plate the week after this trip. It took some time and running around to find this seal, but changing it out...

Short trip in the Expedition Celica

Thanks. I built it for playing, so I'm glad my GF likes the adventure of riding in it. Our next trip will likely be up to Camp Verde, to go fossil hunting along the river. -Jon

Short trip in the Expedition Celica

This past weekend, we decided to take advantage of the amazing weather right now in the desert SW. No real plan at all, just knew we wanted to get out for the day. Breakfast at The Farm at South Mountain, stopped by Bass Pro Shop while heading across the 202 to the east valley, since niether...
