I'm wondering if there is a alternative. Belt rib, diameter, bolt hole diameter and offset should be able to be matched. I'm sure a few mm difference in diameter won't cause issues. I used to swap stuff like this on my rovers to save a lot of expense.

Tried again on Amazon for the dayco. Two out of stock cancellations so far and one damaged in the box before shipping. So hopefully it will work this time.

I don't know if the older gen3 4runners are different but iirc they are not the same size as the gen4 4Runner, new Tacoma and fj cruiser, which I believe those are the measurements for.

I haven't seen a good breakdown of the parts numbers. Looking at the timing belt kits out there for the 3.8, the Aisin TKM-005 looks like a good one but hard to source. Dealer is quite a bit more for OEM, but I've read that the Aisin kit doesn't come with the tensioner. So Dealer item there? Or...
The pep boys brand are made by either cooper or general depending on the model. Usually at least here the cooper brand ones pep boys sells are true coopers. I've used the pep boys buy 3 get one free several times on coopers. Saves a ton.

Wow lots of cooper hate.
Personally used STT's on trails no montero would make it on other than one maybe with a solid front axle and 35's. Never had an issue wanting more traction or a tougher skin even putting it into sharp edges that will take out any tire sidewall... noise wasn't bad as...
What fluid did you use for the transmission? What model montero? Gen 2.5?
Brake light is prob low brake fluid.
Metal on metal sound is prob brake pads worn, goes along with low fluid because the piston is pushed further out. Check the pads and rotors for wear.

The 100 and the gen2/2.5 are very similar. Or they were to me. I liked the 2.5 but was underpowered IMO.
The gen 3 compares 90% to a mk3 Range Rover. I mean it's not a Range Rover but for a full size SUV it has a plush ride and comfortable seats. Ifs/irs is a nice ride.
Highway noise is 100%...
Gen 3 is good. I chose two over the other suv's on the market. It compares more to a Range Rover than a land cruiser IMO. Just a little slower. It needs 100more hp or so.

150k on one 192k on the other.
That truck seems high. I would offer 4500. I paid 6k for my 06 in really good shape from a dealer. 160k miles when I bought it.

Ok after listening to it on startup it definitely has a rattle. Looks like a tensioner and timing belt kit are going to be in order.

Been fighting a evap leak, pretty sure it's a faulty gas cap or tank vent solonoid. The rest tested fine and it's intermittent. Filter is new ish.
