Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

I agree with that statement. They're not essential, but they sure do make life in the bush much easier and safer (Real safety in all but some cases too, not just percieved safety). I almost always have one with me while out, but I wouldn't feel naked without one. Out in the bush without a nice...

    Do you like Pancakes?

Looks like a winner to me! That and the Kodiak/bisquick stuff. :coffeedrink: I'll have to try that after I finally buy my own stove. -Jake

    Jeep plans 2011-2014

Fixed that for you. And yes, less plastic, sensors, bells, whistles, plastic, and a diesel. I chose the YJ over the other models for a few reasons. -Wider axles than CJ (More stable). -No minivan dash like TJ/JK Nor OBDII systems/sensors. -First model to have fuel injection (1991 at that for...

Blitz 5 Gallon Enviro-Flo Gas Can

My Father has a few for puting gas in the yard tool engines. They are of low quality and leak in short order unless stored right side up. I use a surplus Jerry can in the Jeep and want to buy a few more someday, unless somebody starts to make a decent cheap can like those I'll keep the 30yr old...

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

This thread has been a very interesting read. Personally, I keep a Marlin Papoose survival rifle in the Jeep while deep in the bush just incase I need to scavange food while out there. Never had to use it, but I practice with it at different ranges a few times a year to keep good mojo with it...

Ammo Can seller in the Nevada Desert?

Aw darn! I was just out there :smiley_drive: last summer and didn't stop. Guess I'll make a detour the next time I'm traveling out that way. I see all kinds of neat things I could use. -Jake

Mounting Roof-Rack through the actual roof?

I agree with this. Or maybe mounting a rack on a vehicle more aerodynamic than a Jeep (A brick on wheels) is not as bad at higher speeds but boy, I've driven a few Jeeps with loaded down roof racks and it left much to be desired on the Highways. I believe a regear would be in order to carry one...

    Discount Tire ******!!!...Over

Lawsuits and Lawyers brought about that policy. I would go ahead and get a set of cheap steel rims with the correct backspacing anyway, at $50 a piece it really isn't that bad of an investment. On the other hand, I've had freinds wheel Jeeps with 36" tires on 1" spacers for years without...

I think I just scored at the junkyard, have a couple questions.

I second that! (Could even have them throw a locker in there while doing it for less!) But why go through the trouble messing with that 8.25 when you could throw a Ford 8.8 under there? Some 8.8 axles had 4.10 gears which would match your front. Just weld some new perches/shock tabs and bolt...

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

Looks like a lot of fun! I can't wait to move west in a few years. These reports you guys out there write make me want to pack up and leave right now :smiley_drive: Do you carry any sort of GPS unit while out there to "breadcrumb" your way around or are the trails generally marked well? Also...

    Homebrew Jeep Modifications(DIY)

Made a "Super Breather" so that my front/rear axles, transfer case, and transmission had their breathers all routed to the same place high on the firewall for those deep water crossings! -Jake

    XJ Expedition Basics

This man speaks the truth. I've had one completely fail and another begin to fail within the last 8 months and am tempted to carry a spare the next time that I go on a long trip. The first one's bearing fell apart causing my Serp belt to fall off on the way one fall afternoon. Not fun. The...

    Homemade Snorkel

No pics really as I was the one driving and my only passenger was less than thrilled to be crossing water. You can see a white depth guage on the side of the trail in the last picture. I coulden't read the guage, but the water was covering my bumper at one point and I had 3 inches of water in...

Anyone one have any experience with these?

My buddy runs a full set of that in his F250. It's really nice to be honest and a good choice over carpet. He does a lot of hunting and there's always mud and blood on it. Put it in 2 years ago and it still looks alright. I would just toss the carpet and use a roll on bedliner like Herculiner...
