just spotted an FG for sale at Rocklea Truck Parts in Brisbane. Just a flat bed on the back. I don't know anything more about it - I was hunting for parts.
on 2005 FG649 single cab I recently .....
cleaned condenser
cleaned blower fan
replaced blower motor (second hand from Mitsubishi Lancer with minimal modification to screw holes)
regassed and one part replaced
tightened compressor belt
cleaned gauze filter which was a bit clogged up
ran water...
2005 FG649 with parabolics (lifted a bit)
Monroes were 16 0342 front, 16 0421 rear. Thoroughly shot when I took them off. Probably around 30,000km.
Konis are 82-2205 front, 82-2297 rear. Someone else provided the numbers. Had to swap lower rubber bushes from Monroes to fit front, and added...
here's an example of a dual air chuck

check that outer (when on front) valve is accessible with dual chuck (or whatever) from both sides. Never know when you may need it.
If you don't know you will need to air down you...
I find the more upright driving position easier on my back. A couple of weeks ago I replaced shock absorbers (they wear out with parabolics). The new Konis have less bump more rebound than the old Monroes. Noticeable. One of those "every little helps" things.
That things fail never surprises me. Modifying anything is always interesting. And comes with risks that are subtly different to high volume manufacture and design. Then again, one-off custom mods can be lots of fun. I added off-the-shelf replacement in event of failure. Anywhere in the world...
not sure you'll want to answer this ... I wonder if the oil loss when front seal went some time ago has led to other problems,
something to try I guess, does it happen if front hubs are free? does it happen if clutch disengaged/engaged without changing gear?
other than that adjustment - I...
from puggles thought ..... attached to the chassis, in front of the fuel tank, is hopefully a water trap. It has a transparent bowl. There's a drain tap at the bottom. Check there's no water in it. And check when the engine is running that there is no air being drawn into it or through it.
air filter as well? May be worth trying another new fuel filter.
is it turbo? Is that working correctly?
after that it gets a bit beyond do-it-yourself. Sometimes diesel fuel additives can help clean injectors.
tackle the simple obvious first. New battery. That will probably change how everything else happens. Then look again at other symptoms / signs of things not working.
Do you have a diagnostic tool? I believe there are some general after market (not expensive) ones that will read 2009 vehicle...
slightly off-topic. For the Aussies AA Australia can provide insurance for carnet - I think you pay for them to be insured against your non-payment of any customs duties due. For us it was better than providing a bank guarantee - India is 4x value of vehicle.
For us, paperwork (carnet, visas...
most of my cost was port handling at each end.
some ro-ro don't accept some vehicles.
not all routes have ro-ro.
containers have seals.
hard part is finding good shipping agent.
US$10,000 Rotterdam - Vancouver makes my roughly $5,000 Brisbane - Kuala Lumpur for 40' hitop look cheap.
I made...
I didn't have a speedy sleeve so replaced the flange bit that the universal bolts to which fits on the splined output shaft. I think that came from Don Kyatt also. The centre nut is a bit special. 36mm castellated and flanged (on FG649). Broke a breaker bar trying to undo it. Neighbour's rattle...
