    Intelligent wiring

just a quick look .... seems mainly switching things, I couldn't find mention of sensors. Programming seemed like "ask our programmers and we'll rent you an updater" which would probably make custom stuff exy. I guess it all starts with what one is trying to achieve.

Better than OEM tie rod ends and suspension bushings?

Colour of polyurethane bushes can be whatever one wants it to be. The important variable is hardness. And like anything, too hard and its too brittle. I don't know the appropriate hardness for suspension bushes. It isn't difficult to measure with the right test gear.

    HUB NUT SIZE?

ah. A bit of a worry. At least I can remember my memory used to work well. I used a couple of screwdrivers in the holes and a shifter to provide turning motion. Its wasn't tight. The half shaft with cv joint was awkard to remove, the hole in the "yoke" that holds top and bottom king pin...

Newer model FG (post 2010) owners - what spares do you carry?

consumable spares (belts, lights, filters, fluids, etc) only. Basic tools and small bits like electrical connectors, plumbing connectors, hose clips, nuts and bolts. Some redundancy of critical parts in house (like water pump). No insurance spares - for that I carry electronic manuals and at...

Mitsubishi Fuso FG 4x4 Service and Repair Manual

my project to try and read the proprietary OBD on 2005 hasn't progressed (other things to do). There's two connectors that turn the engine warning lights into blink codes. The codes are in the manual. On right hand drive the connectors are near the washer bottle on left hand side. When I looked...

    HUB NUT SIZE?

if I was home in Brisbane I'd look at the socket I used ..... I've had some success in the past asking Zupps parts or service for such info.

    Fuso rear axle alignment

I don't know about aligning rear axle, though I had it checked. I have an after market camber kit which solved pulling to any side.

    220v or 110v

Just an example of some of the options and a bit of comparison. I'm in Aus. I designed my truck around 12v about 6+ years ago. A lot of the thinking prior to that. AGMs, 12v DC only, no shore power, alternator backup, diesel cooking, diesel heating / hot water, 12v diy fridge. 12v power...

    shackle bushing aftermarket replacement

ATW greasable polyurethane, I also know someone who has their own kit made up for greasable polyurethane on Okas (Aus 4wd vehicle). If you can't get the bushes already made have some made - needs custom polyurethane caster. My attempts at maching (for other application) look a bit rough but...

    ATW 19.5 Tire Preasure

4.5 tonne, 40-50 psi on gravel with max speed about 70 km/h, 60 psi on sealed with max speed about 100 km/hr. If I forget to pump them up they get hot at highway speed.

    Speedo Correction

I need a new gear, my old adjustment box collapsed. But my understanding of gears is being a bit challenged here. What has changed between old and new gears?

Starting a home build FG and looking for lots of advice.

I've just (yesterday) replaced 590W of 8 year old Kyocera panels with 1160W of nominal 24v poly panels. Memories of childhood tesselations. Roof is about 4x2m. The old panels will go to daughter's off-grid install where space doesn't matter. New panels have a spec'd 25% higher W/m2 for same...

Any recommendations on pre built doors and windows?

I've been playing with diy covers for our Dometic windows. To give some shade when fully open and avoid re-radiation of heat. Hadn't thought of solid, or security. Scratching with acrylic always a problem - I hate polish. Square edges catch tree branches, rounded / chamfered have been better for me.

    Door latch help

not the same type of latch, I have compression llatches. My latches are at the top with hinge at bottom. Occasionally something inside will fall against the mechanism preventing opening. Needs a mental picture of what's inside to move the lock so it applies pressure, open a bit (less than a...

    Toyo 285/70/R19.5 M608z

around 4/5 - 5 tonne, I vary the pressure with my speed and road. 60 psi for 100km/hr good highway, often as low as 40 psi on potholed corrugated you name it gravel at less than 60 km/hr and as low as 10 km/hr. I look at temperature, they get hot if too low pressure at highway speeds. Too high...

Webasto Dual Top Evo installation problem

Maybe just me. I can't conceive of anything other than a solenoid operated or motorised valve for venting pressurised pipe. Whether there is a signal available from the Webasto I have no idea. If there isn't I would call it a design flaw. In Aus I've found the Webasto technical help usually...
