Especially If you can figure out a way to make it true 4wd with low range !!!!:) You would really need to expand your shop then, and you could definitely one up the Sprinters with that.
That would be great, but would add more weight up high. The rack is mainly for a place to mount the solar panels, and since the rack is going to be all aluminum there won't be much added weight up there. I'm doing my best to keep the CG as low as possible. The high top seems to be quite...
A trailer for us isn’t an option. Tolls for roads, bridges, and ferries are higher, and we will eventually be shipping it to South America. That’s expensive enough without a trailer.
I though about making gutter mounts, but they would be so long I couldn’t figure out how to eliminate side to side flex. To answer your last question we bought two of these so they don’t go on the roof.

They’re crazy rigid. Almost like a hard shell and...
I've been trying to come up with a rack for our 2004 Ford SMB, and haven't found an off the shelf solution that I like. I was going to have some mounts fabricated, and then found these-

Very Nice! That van body style is the best looking Chevy ever made. Are you a US expat or a German citizen? The reason for asking is I've heard it is very hard to get conversions like this through the German inspection process, even to add larger tires and wheels. Congratulations on that.
My wife was shooting video of this circular rainbow in the valley fog below White Rock Mtn in Arkansas. We noticed her shadow was being projected into it by the sun. The “wings” flapping, were my arms behind her.
Finally got to do a road trip in our van after the mods. I was quite pleased. It’s a 2004 SMB Quigley 4wd V10 with a fixed high roof. The trip was 220mi each way. I corrected for the larger tires. At 65 mph I’m actually doing 70. Running 70 , I got 11.8 on the trip down, and 12.3 returning.
That NJB190 is AWESOME! Do you know of any retractable steps that would tuck up behind sliders. I’m getting ready to have sliders built, but don’t want steps permanently reducing my ground clearance.
Got the van hack today. I can’t tell uouuguys jiw pleased I am with it. The bumpers turned out great and it handles so much better with the Agile RIP kit. I’ll be taking it back in a month to get the sliders done and have home make any adjustments from the shakedown. Hopefully I’ll get the...
2004 Ford V10 E350 eb SMB. Quigly 4wd and fixed high roof. On the 1100 mile trip home to Oklahoma from Virginia, I kept the speed averaging 65 mph. Worst tank 12.7mpg. Best 13.8 mpg. Water and fuel tanks were full, but we hadn't loaded any other gear yet. We just had new bumpers built, and...
The bumpers are out of powder coat and installed. This is turning out great. There is still some plumbing and wiring to do, and sliders are still to be built. The swing arm video was for my wife. Having easy to use latches was very important to her. Please don’t take any thing said as a dig on...
Wow! We didn't miss you guys by much. We were in NL from July 2-11. We camped out of the back of our Subaru Outback. NL is an amazing place. It looks like you're now heading south. The Rocky Harbor area is very pretty. You HAVE to go to Norris Point which is close by and eat at the Old...
You really don’t want the shock to be the “limiter” of your suspension travel. Under hard running they will fail. Make/purchase some limiting straps to install and save the high$ shocks.
