Utah West Desert Wonders and Beauty

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I love heading out into the West Desert. One of my favorite parts of the state.

A Maze, Poisoned Spring, and a Black Dragon

Great area, but yes, I wouldn't really recommend powering through that area like I did. Take a long, leisurely day to do it.

A Maze, Poisoned Spring, and a Black Dragon

Thanks guys, it was a good time. If you haven't been out there, I would make it a point. We lucked out for sure that I still had those bolts in my tool box. Without that, we probably would have been chaining batteries together for some welding. But that would have sucked for Derek later on.

A Maze, Poisoned Spring, and a Black Dragon

We arrived at the panel to gaze upon the ancient markings and contemplate it's meaning. Personally, I think it's graffiti, nothing more. I know that's sacrilege to say for many people, but I think that while it's interesting to wonder what the people who created it were thinking, I don't...

A Maze, Poisoned Spring, and a Black Dragon

After confirming that it was solid, I eased the front wheels of my Trooper into the brown water and powered myself across. One by one the rest of our little band followed to the far shore. Our goal for the day had been to get across the Dirty Devil so that we wouldn't have to face it...

A Maze, Poisoned Spring, and a Black Dragon

National Parks are generally marked by boring roads, bland views, closed roads, prepared campsites not allowing fires, signs telling you what not to do, and east coast tourists on an “adventure”. So in other words, places to be avoided at all costs. So when my good friend Joseph said that he was...

    Suzuki samurai, zuki people help!

Doesn't sound like a clutch. Are you getting spark? Pull the wire off the number one cylinder and hold it to ground (bolt on the exhaust manifold or something). Have your buddy try to start it, if you're not getting spark out the end of the cable, then you've got something wrong with the...

    Suzuki samurai, zuki people help!

Yeah, thats a cheaper alternative, but then you have to haul that extra 5 gallons in or on the rig. If it's in the tank, thats the best place.

    Suzuki samurai, zuki people help!

That thing is clean. Congratulations! I'd go with OME springs and shocks(Cruiser Outfitters in Salt Lake can help you out with those). 4.89:1 T-case, Lockright in the rear and a 15 Gallon fuel tank and 31x10.50 AT's.Go through the motor and make sure everything is in tip-top shape. Aside from...

Trooper vs 4runner for a budget minded build? whats your thoughts?

Personally, a 2nd Gen. Trooper would be your best bet out of those options. Get a 92-97 with the 3.2L and a manual. Stout trucks, very capable and cheap out of the box. The 4Runner has more aftermarket support, but it will be more expensive out of the gate and they are significantly smaller than...

Boeing Phantom Badger...Coming to a showroom near you????

That thing is awesome! I have a feeling that the price point will be a bit prohibitive. But this is ExPo, land of $400 hiking boots and $800 mahogany campaign chairs. I'm sure someone will be doing a build on one shortly... ;)

    1979 Suzuki LJ81 "Micro-Overlander"

This thing is so cool. Keep up the good work. Hopefully you can make it to Relic Run this year! It'd be great to have a Suzuki along.

    UK Suzuki Jimny

Man I love these Jimny's. Saw a ton of them down in Australia last month, wish I could get one to the US. Oh well, I'll just keep my '86 running I guess.

Holden Jackaroo's (Aussie badged Troopers) come with 3rd row folding seats...

3rd Gen Troopers (and some 2nd) had third row seating in the US. But it was a bench, not the folding ones like that.

    LJinLA's '94 Expedition Trooper

In all my years working on cars, I've never heard that once. Vehicles that come from the factory with load rating E tires (like 100-series TLC's) recommend running them in the 30's. I'd go off what the manufacture says is safe for the vehicle rather than just straight off the tire. Tall and...
