    LJinLA's '94 Expedition Trooper

ANY tire will be stiff as hell at 50 psi :Wow1:, and wear the center right out of it. I run load rating E and it's fine. 32 psi seems to be the sweet spot for me on the highway. Tires wear evenly and it doesn't feel squirrely.

    LJinLA's '94 Expedition Trooper

I set mine up to be a basic camping/Daily Driving rig. Sourced a factory LSD out of the junkyard, OME 219's in the rear and cranked the torsion bars up front for about 2" of lift. 245/75/17 Goodyear Duratracs. A few other odds and ends, but thats pretty much it. I've had it for just over a year...

United 4-Wheel Drive Association, Blue Ribbon Coalition, California Association of 4WD Clubs. Hell, even donating it directly to Planet would be better that giving it to the Environmental Defense Fund which sees our hobby as something to be wiped off the Earth.

Isuzu Aisin Locking Hubs Available at Junkyard, Sun Valley, CA

Why would you ever want to donate money to organizations that activly work to close land to responsible recreation?

Looking to buy a Trooper-what to look for

1st Gen Troopers never had a 3.2L V6 in them. The largest was a 2.8L GM V6. The 3.2L is an Isuzu engine and started with the 2nd Gen Troopers in late 91.

Its only two people that are telling him not to get it. Most everyone else has provided pretty solid info for him to go by.

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

While I have never owned a Westy, I know many who have. They are 'unique' in terms of reliability, but parts are everywhere (yes, not so much for the Synchro components) and they are quite capable for light off-road duty. They have all the comforts of home built right in and plenty of space for...

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

I forgot to mention a Syncro Westfalia. That may very well be the greatest.

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

You missed Nissan Pathfinder (WD21'a and R50's), Isuzu Trooper (all), and the Suzuki Samurai. From personal experience, I'd say 80 or 100 series Land Cruisers, Tacoma, or the Trooper.

Looking to buy a Trooper-what to look for

Ok! :thumbs up: I was blasting down about 100 miles of awesomely bad washboard during Freeze Your Tail Off in December and never felt like the Trooper was going to lose control. In fact, in the year I've owned my '94 I've probably put nearly 500 miles of washboard under it driving around in...

Looking to buy a Trooper-what to look for

Hello, kettle? Cost and ease is relative, isn’t it? Your fanaticism for the Montero make it seem simple, but someone unfamiliar may find it somewhat daunting. To say that the stock IFS set up can run 35” tires without worry of breakage is misleading, to say the least. Yes, you can run 35”...

Looking to buy a Trooper-what to look for

Opinions vary, but when I went looking for one I stuck with the 2nd generation ones (92-97) because of the 3.2. The auto vs. manual transmission is a regular debate. I've heard lots of people talk about how the auto in these are weak, but I've known a number of people who wheel their Troopers...

I also got the preview of this at Cruiser Outfitters. Very awesome. No wonder they are renaming the new Bond film from Skyfall to Skydome. :D

    Trooper question

Thats interesting, I love the seats in my Troopy! Super comfortable for me, I feel like I have a "commanding" view of the road and my vehicle. Only complaint is that there isn't enough lower bolster, so when I'm apexing those hairpins, my ***** slides a little too much. ;)

    Trooper question

This is in regards to the first gen Troopers. Second gen Troopers only have the 3.2L or 3.5L Isuzu V6, which are quite solid motors with ample power.
