When I was in Southern Africa I looked at lots of National Luna fridges in a outdoor store. I really liked them and if I could have figured out how much it weighed in the box I might have bought one to bring home. The problem I have with buying them in the States is that the price is about...
I have had a Dometic fridge for about 10 years. It's worked like a dream. When I bought it I got the insulated cover for it. It's not very thick and I don't know how much good it does but it must do some good. After that I bought I Truckfridge in a group buy on a Toyota forum. It was a good...
I've had the technician license for about 20 years. I only use the radio for local stuff so I haven't really found the need to go higher. One thing I like for overlanding is APRS. My radio will broadcast my location (in my location I get good coverage) so people can see where I am. I can...
That's what I did. I can't remember what website I used but it had all the questions on the technician test and would go through them. I kept taking the test over and over until I consistently got a passing grade.
Good points. When I went to Namibia, I rented a car at the airport to last me until the 4WD I was going to travel in was ready and they made me watch a video on driving on rough roads. Most of the tourists in Namibia were from Germany so they probably hadn't driven on many desert roads. If...
The trouble with renting one is that people might use it for non emergency reasons. I can't readily find any examples but I've read of people calling 911 when out hiking for petty reasons. If people rent a beacon they might feel entitled to push the SOS button for non emergencies.
Let me second the Tidy Cat tub. I have a few of them that I use for different things around the campsite. I have one by the kitchen area with a white trash bag for trash. At night, I can snap the lid shut to, hopefully, keep out animals.
I haven't checked into the Spot for many years but back when I was thinking about using one I heard tales of the signal not going through. Since there was no way to check on the device if the signal was sent correctly people would press the button and sit back thinking help was on the way when...
I have a Renogy solar suitcase that I connect to my lead-acid Yeti. The Goal Zero doesn't recognize the panels, which I plug in with Anderson plugs, but it does charge the battery pack. The display doesn't update unless I turn it off and back on.
I got my ham license about 20 years ago. All I did to study was find a website with practice tests. They went through all the questions in the pool and I just took the tests until I was consistently getting 100%. This took less than a week. Then I went in and took the test, which was free...
I have a Toddy (https://www.amazon.com/Toddy-THM-Cold-Brew-System/dp/B0006H0JVW) cold brew coffee maker that I use exclusively to make coffee. I add two ounces of the concentrate to 6 ounces of hot water and I have a cup of coffee. The taste is so much smoother than drip brewed coffee. When...
