    automatic or stick shift ?

I had a starter motor fail on me last year on my '95 R380 5-speed (my first manual Disco). I was 1,400 miles from home and had about 36 hours to get there. In 4-low I'm not convinced an auto offers significantly less control but..... Bump starting got me home on time and reminded me how...

g4 fully equipped challenge truck discovery 2

It should have a Special Vehicles plate somewhere, right? Even if somone just painted it Tangiers, it's still probably worth $17k. But you won't be able to register it without shuffling some paperwork, I'd imagine.

g4 fully equipped challenge truck discovery 2

For a vehicle that cool, who cares? And no, no one is bringing this into the US "legally" That definition varies widely. There are a number of well-known members of the Rover community that have, uh, found ways.... Isnt The Shop in Norcross, GA? Is this being offered by them?

    2004 freelander

There's a reason you don't see many Freelanders/LR2s on the road that are older than the current model year...

Return of Safety Devices, SD, racks

Yeah, I was pretty sure the low profiles were sorter all the way around... Don't the arms on the back hug the alpine windows much more than on a standard?. But I havent had a low-profile since the early 2000s. Maybe pictures are in order?

    Holy U Joints batman

You sure you had u-joints to both diffs? The rear wasn't a weird-looking thing we call (and hate) a rotoflex?

Return of Safety Devices, SD, racks

You can also crease the hell out a headliner doing it this way! I wasn't defending the roof rails as being useful, but a Disco without rails/rack looks strange, IMO. Taking them off for no reason seems like a weird hassle for a bizarre result.

Return of Safety Devices, SD, racks

You'd be suprised, friend. How many different SD racks have you used? I've used three different SD racks on three different Discos and believe me, your ".001 mpg" isn't very scientific.

    Series PTO question

Sometimes looking cool is more important than maximum efficiency. And let's face it, boys, mowing your grass with a beat up old Series is pretty ************.

    OOPS SORRY

I've spent most of the last 10 years in Colorado and Arizona... I've never heard of anyone calling Fish & Game to get clearance to dress a roadkill. "Legal"? How could it be illegal? It's not poaching. Now, a protected species that was hit and not reported, well that's a different story and it's...

    Range Rover P38 diesel conversion

I wouldn't turbo the 6.2, Eric. You'll lose the majority of its reliability and flexibility. And you'll most likely need to switch to a serpentine belt. I've heard a lot of bad stories about people strapping a Banks to the 6.2 and having problems. I'd say if you want a giant TD you should...

    Range Rover P38 diesel conversion

What RPMs are you running at 65 mph? 19-23 mpg is where I sit, normally.

Return of Safety Devices, SD, racks

You can fill the holes with rubber plugs. The low-profile rack (roof rails out) is more desirable because it's a little easier to load, not quite as much aerodynamic loss, and most think it looks a bit better.

    My new-to-me 6.2L Disco

Pretty slow progress -- I've just been collecting parts the last few months as work has me all over the place. It's not slowing down either...heading to KS for a month on Sunday and then Europe for 2 weeks in July. I'm done monkeying around with unprofessional radiator mounting so when I get...
