Keep Tahoe or step up to Suburban?

If you plan on sleeping more than one person, most definitely upgrade to a Suburban. A 2500 Sub would be great in my opinion. I live and travel alone so the Tahoe works fine for me, but would certainly be more cramped if I had to try to add someone in the back.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

:smilies27 Agreed 100%. Anybody have any suggestions as to where else one can host images? Noticed the same stupid message crop up on my own threads here and elsewhere. P.I.T.A. for sure.

Thoughts on Hummer H2 for overlanding

This, times 100. I like to think of the H2 "guts" as what could have been the basis of a 2500 series Tahoe. Many shared components with the 2500 Suburban but with close to a Tahoe length frame. Rare Parts tie rod ends. SUPER heavy duty. There used to be a website called " Yellow H2 ", guy...

    GMT800 Tahoe or Suburban?

While I do love my Tahoe and think the turning radius is much better than a Suburban, if I did the project again knowing what I do now, I would get a 2500 Suburban. Good luck with your shopping.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

I think that in person is always the best bet, but, that said I do understand your remote location. With BlackBear you can contact them with your requirements, and they can send you a programmed ECU, and you return your factory "core" once you have installed theirs.

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

Zapata Your Tahoe does look good with the Rubi wheels on it. Two thumbs up. Thank you much! I was amazed they chose to feature it on their show. I had heard nothing since I submitted it to their site a few months ago. A pleasant surprise to start my morning.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Thanks Andrei. I think the progressive lift idea would be perfect for your project if you only need that 2" up front and 1" in back. As for the BlackBear Tune, yes, I saw an increase in my MPG. I think the programming is well worth the money, especially in the case of your rig. If you can get a...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Pretty cool project you have going on here, I will second the vote for doing your own body lift. You may even want to look into getting some delrin to make the spacers as I think it is easier to work with than aluminum stock. Over on Z71T-S there is some information about a do it yourself...

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

Thanks much. I do not know what the exact backspacing is on the wheels, when I ordered them I told the company I needed a 6 lug pattern to fit the Chevy Tahoe. They are American Racing Mojaves 17 x 8 in size. I do not run spacers on the wheels and have been very happy with them. Easy to clean.

200K Views I am well, of course I remember you FMJ. :) Welcome to Expo Portal, thanks as ever for your kind words. Thanks Stryder. I do plan on putting in a locker sometime but alas my home projects keep taking away "fun" money for the rig. For now I am just happy to have the 14 bolt under...

Best value Suburban as an all arounder

z71tahoe-suburban.com - this was my first forum I joined 12 years ago. Tons of information is there - over 500K worth of posts. I have never found it to be "buggy" and plagued with ads like some other forums. Very friendly environment, unlike some other forums where if you poke your head in...

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

It is the factory bow tie. I just popped it out, sanded it down, painted it black, then masked it off, painted the red, removed the masking tape to reveal the black, and then sealed it with several coats of clear. After it had set up for a couple days I just snapped it back into the grille...

Get a ScanGauge 2. They have a built in transmission temp gauge as one of the many variables you can display on the screen. Plug and play, easy mod.

    Rancho or KYB for GMT800

I see you are from MI, another rust belt state. I tried Ranchos on my rig here in MD and they only lasted about 2 years. One of them flat out rusted solid and another was simply shot, the rebound action was like a snail.

Thanks Jelorian, I hope it is as tough as the 14 bolt's reputation seems to be. Yes, I was able to use the parking brake cables that came with the axle with a slight modification.

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

14 bolt axle conversion My latest mod was just wrapped up yesterday. In December my Tahoe gave me an early Christmas present of grinding noises coming from the rear axle.:( Diagnosed with failing bearings, I was quoted over $1100 to get the axle rebuilt back up to "new" condition. After doing...

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

Yes, Red, they are indeed ARP bolts. Considerably better quality than what GM used during initial manufacture. ( shocking, I know ) Below is a pic of the bolts I took during the install. You can see the broken one near the top of the package. It was a relief to have it done before it caused a...

    Suburban mafia fuel pump question

Hi Rayra - the fuel pump job can be done in a driveway. I did the one for my Tahoe a few years back, alone. I think if I would have had an extra pair of hands it would have made it easier since the tank was not completely empty. I did jack up the driver's side of the truck and prop it up with...
