I love jeeps and have had a few, but that's a pretty silly thing to say unless you drove from the showroom floor and did the hammers stock. If it was built/modded, any vehicle could be built to do the same.
That being said, a jeep would probably be the cheapest vehicle to get through...
it's always difficult to find a perfect "off the shelf" solution. I needed the same thing in my truck -- a place to stash/lock up valuables and tools (as well as a secure box to keep everything tidy and contained incase of a roll-over). I pulled out a back seat and had a box made at a local...
they are wide...thankfully the Ford Rapter is now a smidge wider so we aren't the only pig on the trails anymore! There's a pretty funny review on Top Gear a few years ago showing Jeremy Clarkson driving the h1 down some tiny village roads. Many guys are going with a rear-steer mod so it will...
at the time of the picture I had 37's on it. There's not a lot of articulation with a hummer (ifs/irs), maybe 8 inches (the limit straps keep the suspension close to stock extension)? Here's a shot I forgot to add showing how high the bag got...it may have gone a bit farther but the truck was...
the 4 ton label had me wondering as well. In my instructions it mentioned lifting two wheels at a time on a 4 ton vehicle.
The 1st time I tried it under the axle it went up so fast, I thought it woulf hit the ceiling of my garage. It actually rolled a few feet to the right -- lucky there...
I have used the larger Titan air-jack on my h1 and it worked well, but there are lots of flat spots with all the rocker guards and ucp. It lifted half the truck with no problems and fast using my ob compressor/tank/airchuck attachment (it won't work with my exhaust tip). But my hummer is only...
the G-Wagon is on the same list...and more $$.
the hummer hatred thing is silly -- I remember it 1st starting when Huffington was attacking Arnold while running for CA governor. I sometimes experience it on the internet, but rarely in person (the few I have had in person are all behind my back...
God, that's an old video with the 1st gen tie-rod (the video's from early 2003).
Tie rods are under $100 and take about 20 minutes to replace -- they rarely go. Like I said in my previous post:
"The suspension components aren't necessarily designed for a truck that heavy and with big tires...
My take on the h2, having owned and wheeled one a lot for almost a year:
The h2 is pretty off-road capable and comfy as hell. The common misconceptions are amusing -- it's no heavier than many trucks out there yet people think it's the heaviest thing on the road next to a semi. It's mpg is...
Looks like that truck has a J-Fab lift. Tires that big make it a halfshaft breaking machine! I second making sure there have been some gear changing, as well as upgrading to the 12k halfshafts and perhaps some engine hot-rodding. I have seen and wheeled with some of these super lifted hummers...
I just saw one Wed that was similar to the one pictured but the shell on the back wasn't quite as high. It was going the opposite direction on the hwy so I couldn't get a closer look -- I see lots of hummers here in socal, but few with custom campers on the back.
It's a '98 2 door civilian...
AMG did assemble the h2 for GM with GM parts...the h2 assembly plant (part of the original "hummer" name lease deal) is being re-tooled to build taxis:

that's pretty good considering the curb wt of a stock FJ is around 4200-ish.
I need to weigh mine -- I'm just guessing, but I'm thinking my pig is about 8000 lbs with me and all my gear/spares/beer in it.
