    '94 Toyota Pickup build

I swapped to 4.88s w/33's when I still had a 3.0 and it was great. It's still great with a 3.4 but I think I could get away with 4.56s or even the stock 4.10s, the power band and overall power is just that much better.

    '94 Toyota Pickup build

Sent you a PM about some 4.88s. Best bang for the buck mod out there in my opinion. It's a 4 beer job (well maybe 6 or 7 for me, but I'm really thirsty), very straightforward.

Are you missing just the glass for the rear window or the whole frame too? I've had luck replacing the glass with plexiglass in the past, but finding that whole assembly could be a heck of a goose chase...

    El Burro - 1989 4Runner Build

Holy crap that looks awful. I usually can't endorse or trust any sort of "snake oil" type of products...but, a heavy duty seafoam treatment brought my old 3vze back from the dead at one point. It was using a ton of oil and the seafoam must've knocked some crud loose on a valve stem seal or...

    1995 4Runner DD/Adventure "Killbox"

My 3.4 swap is definitely the best thing I ever did for my truck. I still see 20+ mpg on the highway with 4.88s and 33s.

Where do the rear bumpers end up on these trucks? I swear the last 3 or 4 I've had either had nothing or some cobbled together redneck welding project...

    Softopper w/rack?

I've used one in the past- they're a little sketchy... The dirt bike thing isn't a big issue for me personally- most of our riding is local singletrack and we all ride plated bikes. When we need to go further I can use someone else's rig or trailer. I hadn't though much about the ease of...

    Softopper w/rack?

It's kind of interesting- the more I think about what's required for security/storage/roof rack, it begins to negate the positive attributes of the soft top in the first place. I usually trailer my moto, or ride it to where we're going around here, but it sure would be nice to toss it in the...

    Old's Cool

Holy moly, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that. When I got mine it was missing the lid springs, but other than that was ready to rock.

    Softopper w/rack?

Thanks! I would like to see a picture or two of that if it's not too inconvenient. I think you're right about the Yakima uprights not working with the soft top, it looks like they mount to the inside of the bed sides which would interfere. I checked out the Dissent Offroad stuff and while...

    Softopper w/rack?

Anyone using a setup like this currently? I'm considering switching to something like this from my Wildernest for a number of reasons. Here's the rack setup that softopper offers: Something like that would work but even lower profile would be fine like the ones that yakima makes, my...

    Old's Cool

Anyone in here running a softopper + ladder rack setup on their pickup? I'm really starting to consider selling the Wildernest to someone who will use it more and have always like the versatility of a soft top. My use absolutely requires a roof rack, even just a standard Yakima setup, I'm not...

    3rd Gen 4Runner - Life Inside/Heading West

I wouldn't do a thing. Sounds like you're loaded up on cold sleeping gear- without some significant work, you're not gonna be "toasty" ever but you can be absolutely comfortable sleeping. I'm a huge proponent of those modern jumper box's that can charge off the truck if necessary. They're...

1993 4Runner - Daily driver with a sense of adventure

Definitely replace the o2 sensor and see where your mileage goes. I had a 93 4runner that would regularly get high teens, and one summer it shot down to like 11-12. Replaced the o2 and it was good to go. But also keep in mind the winter blend gas (at least in CO) has a huge effect on economy...

1993 4Runner - Daily driver with a sense of adventure

Man that thing is in killer shape! Envious of the interior. Nice job reviving the 3.0- I personally feel like they get a bad rap for being a pretty decent motor.

    All Things 3.4 Swap

I'm trying to remember what I did in regard to the radiator....I'm fairly sure I used my old 3.0 radiator and didn't modify anything- I think I just mocked up the shape of the hoses and had my buddies at Napa find some that worked. I also switched to the 3.4 fan for reasons you described and...

I'm also betting that you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Have you replaced the little o-ring in the idle screw on the throttle body? Those things are almost all bad and leak vacuum pretty badly when they harden up. Truck looks great! You've pushed me over the edge to get some sick '90's...

    All Things 3.4 Swap

Info I just posted in Nikkshepherd's thread- I figure it would be useful here. A good fairly low mile motor could be anywhere from like $800-$1500 I would think. Like Nikksheperd said, the ticket is to buy a whole truck and part out what you don't use. It's really helpful to have absolutely...

It's really helpful to have absolutely all the accessories, sensors, evap, and other electrical garbage even if you don't...

    All Things 3.4 Swap

Here are some pictures of mine I finally liberated from the photobucket black hole. I actually really like the 3vze, but this particular one had developed a pretty terrible bottom end knock from years of neglect and poor air filters. Flintstone rig And Voila! I have a bunch of pictures...
