My 4runner with a arb fridge and 2 yellow tops in 80-90deg days set at 36F with a 80w solar panel on the roof has been sitting since...sunday night. so thats 4 days of use and I checked the battery hours after the sunset and it...
Why not do something like this guy.

very simple and wont be a bother while driving. Those flexible panels are pretty cheap these days also. check ebay and amazon.
Maybe I missed something. Its you aux battery so Just drive around. Your alternator is a much better charger than anything and it will be forcing volts/amps into it since its directly connected. Dont you just have a switch to charge both batteries when driving?
** just went back and looks like...
Cool idea man i like it. Ive had various solar panels on the roof for the last few years. I haven't really camped in one place for extended periods but Its nice to know its helping my batteries when my arb fridge is keeping cold drinks ready for my return :)
Also, it's ok bro you don't have to...
I don't even have a circuit breaker. I think I just have the one fuse coming straight off the battery for the 2 gauge, then it just bounces inverter/fuse box/fuse box. You don't really need another fuse box in back if you're not planning on pulling much power from that spot. can just run the...
First of all wow your roof looks so much larger than my 3rd gen ! haha I cant even fit my 80w width wise on the gobi rack
I have a 80w solar on my gobi roof rack, with a morning star controller in the back.
#1 - My Morning star controller is in the back right of my 4runner behind the...
wow that awesome, I never got past my tech. started studying a few times for my general but never followed through. I guess I dont really have a need to go any further but it sure does make your callsign cool. CONGRATS for her!
I just bought a joying and i love it. Its plenty fast and HD screen makes it very impressive for the low cost. flashed a new rom on it and it does everything i need but my steering wheel controls dont work and thats bugging me.
I have torque setup plus all my other apps for music and back up...
The lid straight up sucks to remove. My buddy has had his fridge for maybe 5 years and its never gotten easier. Only way I have found that sometimes works is tweak to the side and pull as hard as you can lol. I just try not to remove mine :(
That's usually how mine is setup when traveling. That's what I miss most about my edgestar with the side opening doors. It was much easier to access the cold drinks on the road.
Nice use of the arb straps, must be a solid setup.
awesome man! I hate the current trend of people buying china ham radios and not getting licenses. Its always cool to see people put in the time and effort to get the license. I got mine in 2003 back in highschool randomly because I had a friend that was into it, been used sooo much since them...
Nice mods! Looking forward to hearing about any improvements. I just got an arb 50 quart and i hate how warm the shelf gets. The bottom will be 34 and the shelf will be 50!
Im not going to break everything down but there is some good info people have posted and some facts that are just not true. One I have to address is the edgestar does not have a dana foss compressor its a china knock off that while good is not a good as a true danfoss compressor.
Now for some...
In places like yosemite, supposed to pull out and put in the bear box but my edgestar didn't fit so we just left in the car and covered. At whitney portal, its also bad, I just removed all food and put in bear box and covered the fridge. Its always a chance though leaving it in the car in bear...
The fridge has a built in low voltage shut off so no need to worry about dead batteries. I doubt 15min a day will be enough but you will just have to see. Have a volt meter to check battery volts and when they are getting low drive the car around a little or run it for a while then check the...
Hour are you running it off the stock 12v plug in back? I had the same problem with my 42qt edgestar and fridge would shut down when batt volts were 11.8. I just ran a 6gauge wire to the back for all my accessories and that fixed it. Now it never shuts off early.
Also not sure what cord the...
