Pics of your Bikes and Rides

I've attempted a ride 2x now, the 'Tour of Idaho', have not made it but not for lack of trying. Its ~2300 miles, 10 days to finish, all REMOTE hard (black diamond) singletrack in gnarly backcountry Idaho, several 10k foot peaks, lots of water crossings, sand dunes, rock gardens, bushwhacking...

    KTM's....

I've been around KTM's since 1996 and have had several since then (a lot) and my dad has had a 1190 and currently a 690 and I have a couple buddies that have owned 790's. There are ALWAYS complaints about KTMs, generally speaking, as you point out it's all forum chatter, my/people close to me...

Are there no side by sides discussed here?

Part of it may be generational - but the generations are molded by the ones raising them, so it extends far beyond current generation based on what I see and have experienced, but again, that is what I see and experience. We don't need to turn the clock back to the 1930's, common vernacular...

There are jerks in every sport as you say. People don't care anymore - its too bad. Here in Bend Oregon, I've been riding moto and mtb for ~25+ years, if I ever stopped to grab a snack, fix a flat, etc I'd always get a "Hey bud, you all good"....last year I got a flat and 7 people passed me...

Have you been to any of them? I can't speak for all of them but I've recreated in Nevada, Utah, Arizona and extensively in Idaho, which all have loose laws when it comes to SxS's and they are some of the best places for outdoor enthusiasts.

You'd need a gold grill to pull that off.....on your teeth not the sxs

    Yamaha TW200? Looking for feedback

I'd put em' in different categories, a TW200 is like a FJ40 while that Rokon is like a John Deer tractor. Rokon is very niche, very slow (I think they have 7 hp) and intended more for hunting/farm work.

Are there no side by sides discussed here?

Lots of folks live in small communities and there are several states that let you do your thing, @GHI pointed out some and I know here in the west Idaho and Nevada also allow it. I think the only change to Utah's rules is they need to be "registered" vs being a free for all. But, if you are...

I don't like them as much as the next guy based on some antics I see but I can see myself using one to get out and explore with the misses and the pup....this is coming from a guy who is a die hard moto fan and I spend a LOT of time way out in the woods on the moto.

LOL - how about a Honda Accord if going to the DMV is your determining factor? Depending on where you live you can drive a sxs anyplace you can drive a vehicle outside of the Interstate....but maybe that too.

A good sxs is going to go a lot more places than a full size rig is. I think the ones that make the most sense are the 50" compatible ones, lots of cool trails to access that you can't fit a full size sxs through let alone a Jeep/Bronco

Someone explain why GAIA gets so much love

I like the idea of Areas - I'll do some research into how that works. I've been using Gaia for 3+ years now and it's a struggle to keep all the data organized, I have waypoints, routes and tracks all over the place. My biggest grievance with Gaia are the folder structures.

MPG Numbers for 2024 Tacoma 2.4T No Hybrid

Ouch - gets the same MPG as my Ram 2500 Hemi towing a 7k trailer but it has a tank almost 2x as big....that's a lot of fill ups with only 18.x gallon tank. It's pretty sim to my 2.3L Ranger actually and the small tank was was a major PITA towing or loaded down.

Lexus GX550 Overtrail vs. Grenadier or new Toyota Land Cruiser?

It's amazing how much towing eats into good mileage....my Ram 2500 gets 12-13 pulling a 7k trailer down the highway.....

good theory as to how it missed the mark.

That gets into design / engineering limits to a certain extent. There is a reason rigs like FJ40's and Merc 240D's from the 80s are still used in 3rd world conditions, they were not only engineered and built well but their components were built to a standard that far exceeded need, factor of...

Any more pics of your rig? What Gross Weight are you driving around at? Those are really neat tires.....
