Thanks for the help everyone. Obviously I should've just put it in 4lo, but I made it up before coming to that. Next time I'll try it.
I agree, it's been a good vehicle for us. I've looked into a replacement but not a lot of options for a family of 6. It's also a third vehicle for us that is...
You've got a sharp avalanche! The tahoe has certainly fit our needs nicely aside from this issue. Its roomy, comfortable and reliable. I'll see what black bear has to say and go from there, I don't mind some salvaging if it comes down to it.
I finished a few details in anticipation of our upcoming trip. I mounted my old gas can with a smittybilt mount. I also mounted an axe and shovel with quick fists. And I added some led mood lighting under the tent.
The motor seems to have enough power during normal driving. I'll research the tune, I don't mind spending the money if it will fix the issue and give me peace of mind.
It's been a while now but I don't think I tried 4lo. There was no mud, sand or rocks and I wasn't spinning the tires so I didn't attempt 4lo from what I remember.
You're right though, it was pretty steep. Walking up it was a chore without using my hands. And yeah, I don't expect it to behave...
Thanks for the input guys.
Pigsammy- I agree, I really expected the tires to break loose. The truck has shifted and ran fine since, no issues at all.
Nevadalover- it has the g80 and 3.73's
So this has been nagging me for a few months now in the back of my head and I would like y'alls opinion.
A while back my wife and I had the tahoe about 20 miles out in the mountains camping. We broke camp to leave in the morning and that required driving up a steep trail we had descended the...
The spacers can change the bolt pattern if you need them to, they don't have to though. My trailer axle has 6x5.5 hubs and I use 2" spacers, but the spacers don't change the bolt pattern.
Tire size isn't dependant on hub bolt pattern. The reason for the wheel spacers is to allow the use of the center cap on the wheels. Without the spacers the dust cap on the hub will protrude too far for the center cap to be used.
I'm not sure what you're asking about the 30' boat.
My struts for the lid showed up today. I thought it would take me a few hours to figure the placement out but I got lucky on the first try, took about 20 minutes. They are 90 pound struts with an 8" stroke from McMaster. I also moved the license plate over so it wasn't blocked by the trasharoo.
Well in normal fashion, I got 90% finished and then stopped. But I'm back on it. I made the lid, still need to get the struts figured out but it latches and locks. I also got a plate for it. Here's a few pics, we are taking it to padre island national seashore in a couple weeks
