Dual battery in-cabin and Solar setup

Thank you for the reply and your setup is much more advanced than my plans are. My guess/assumption is yes, the Redarc has the "smart" technology to know when the primary has enough and then switch to the AUX to charge it. As much as I want to be parked in a spot for days and using whatever...

Dual battery in-cabin and Solar setup

Again not sure on the breaker on the negative side, just what I saw but I think it’s unnecessary after hearing that as a general consensus a few places. I see your point on both devices; but the Redarc gives me a visual readout on the unit while the Victron will allow me to monitor via...

Dual battery in-cabin and Solar setup

Honestly speaking I was using this as a guide, but I don't think I need the 40A breaker between the MAIN and AUX on the - side. Yes a 30A would be more logical, I'm not real familiar or projects like this so I'm not sure I can give you answer besides I saw it and it gave me a guideline I went with.

Dual battery in-cabin and Solar setup

Dual battery Plans in the works, few questions and sorry for the long-winded post. I plan to build a battery box enclosure that will rest behind the future Goose Gear drawers. I've still got a few questions prior to attacking the building part, such as: 2-AWG or 4-AWG run from primary battery...

    Simple, portable solar setup?

Thanks for posting. So educate me a sec, an isolator prevent draw from aux to primary, and any possible loss from primary by means of unregulated draw from the aux or any accessories attached downstream correct? As such, this is a very necessary component to have right....

    Bugeye's GX460 Build

How do the EBCs wear and feel, good pedal and quick stops and holds off road? What about your bump stops, was that a need or just an upgrade?

    Simple, portable solar setup?

Appreciated, post up some pics and name of that switch if you can, I’d be interested in seeing what you’ve got set up. How big of a solar panel do you use, what type?

    Simple, portable solar setup?

That’s hilarious, damn tree rats! I worked my way over here cause I’m new to solar and need to figure out a setup similar to this but no rigid panel, was leaning towards flexible/mold able or folding blanket types, but want it scalable so I can double it up later should I choose to. I need to...

    2020 Gaia Topo Map

As a former satellite imagery guy, Vector vs Raster is a HUGE difference, that alone is a major performance changer. Vector will render and draw much faster, and uses a fraction of disk space comparatively for the same sized AOI/area.

    Superwinch

I picked up a TigerShark 11.5k lb in the fall and it seems solid, good reviews and synthetic rope for $6-700 I think. That said, the paperwork wasn't the clearest and I had to get the solenoid extension kit to relocate it to the bumper. I found the wire extension kit on Amazon no problem, but...

Anyone using the Overland Pros "Panamint 2000" tent?

I'd go Gazelle over this in a second, I bought a 3-person and saw both models at Expo East, but returned it and went RTT cause I ended up being able to at the time. They're still good ground options, quick and roomy, but I JUST bought a new ground tent last year not anticipating I'd have a RTT...

Garmin has finally "Garmin'd" Delorme InReach plans

I just exchanged my inReach mini for the bigger Explorer+ with the same SOS capability when needed, since there was seemingly a $100 difference for actual basemaps built in, compass, barometer, altimeter, weather data, and so on. Seemed the better buy and I get more use out if the device rather...

Offline GPS maps and navigation for iPad Mini and Amazon Fire 8

Dual makes a GPS antennae that might work, I think it's Bluetooth enabled and doesn't require you to hardwire it, there are others too on Amazon and such, definitely ask and research the different models and read the reviews. I just bought a Garmin InReach mini and returned it for the Garmin...

Can the iPad really be used as an out-of-signal range, off-road GPS device?

Good info, I like that guys channel for stuff here in the East. Side note; he had to have had his GPS in his pocket if the iPad wasn’t the cellular version right? If you failed to pre-plan and download maps ahead of time, you still have maps built in to the GPS itself, main reason I’m returning...

Can the iPad really be used as an out-of-signal range, off-road GPS device?

So long as you had offline maps you could use iPad for maps display, then use Bluetooth to connect say the Garmin Explorer In Reach+ for accurate GPS position and a map reference on it.

    Kenwood TM-D710G Install - Advice?

I think you need a different cable. https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/bulk-loading-with-the-kenwood-tm-d710.688743/#post-5331629 I ordered my PG-5 finally, curious how to try and bulk load frequencies to the radio now from Chirp Repeaterbook access; I think it’s a push to from Chirp...

    Fridge cover...yes or no?

Direct sunlight and UV "wear or breakdown" maybe might be an issue. Most coolers are plastic not metal, so the cover would help there I think. My windows are tinted which will help, and the Ironman cooler I just ordered is plastic not metal, so I'll get a cover in time, but not too stressed...
