SAR vehicle mods are a slippery slope. One thought for consideration, you may want to work on improving your vehicles capabilities before adding all the expensive Whelen gear unless it's actually needed immediately. You're more likely to use offroad-related, recovery, communications, lights...

I'm mainly considering this because of the looks once I get my black rims. So whether I go with Rhino/LineX or paint will boil down to $$$.
I've read a number of posts here and elsewhere of folks using herculiner with mixed results. But it appears, like any job, it comes down to doing a...
I may swing by a couple of autobody and paint shops to get quotes on painting these areas flat black instead of Line x or Rhino. I wonder if paint will be any cheaper.
I drove over to a local shop that sprays Rhino Liner for an estimate. All I want sprayed are the fender flares, about a 12" strip along the bottom between the flares and the rear bumper. I was told it would cost $1995 and take 3 days to complete.
Next stop was to Line-X, however I didn't...
Thanks for the input, I guess I'll continue looking for a used 285. I've been looking locally, on eBay, and offroad sites but no one seems to be selling a single used 285. I'll give Craig's List a try too.
I thought this may have been discussed before, but nothing turned up with my searches.
Looking into getting a set of new BFG TA KOs (285/75/16) at $185 per tire. I'm trying to save some money on the spare and I hate dropping another $185 for a new 5th tire as the spare.
Can I get away with...
The nice thing about using Velcro is that you can store the radio in a case when it isn't needed. I store mine in a Pelican case and pull it out when needed. Having things on the dash in VA is frowned upon too. When it comes time for state vehicle inspection, I just pull it off the Velcro if...
Another SAR Junkie.:D I have my VHF mounted on my dash using heavy duty Velcro. This is a temporary measure, althought it works fine. I've used a piece of white cardboard, spare topo maps or other paper as a sun shield during the summer, seems to work along with the radios built in fan...
Florida must be a little more tolerant then Virginia. Here you would likely get a ticket from the VA State Police or county LEOs for running those LF lights on the roads.
I have 4 Hella 550s up on my roof rack (2 fogs and 2 driving) and 2 550s facing the rear. They're alright, I thought they would be somewhat brighter, and for the amount of wheeling I'm doing will do fine until I upgrade. I guess you really can't expect much from 55w halogen lights. I'll leave...
Some additional pics as requested. If you need some other angles, just let me know.
When I head out to the trail, I just use 4-6 large zip ties to secure the mesh within the TJM bumper.
I have a 1" body lift from Roger Brown and cleared my 285/75/16 Goodyear MTRs. If you have a stock front bumper you may have to trim some of the bumper away if rubbing occurs when the wheels are stuffed or turning.
