If only it was that easy. It is something that I'm thinking about with my spare Canter but is going to take a lot engineering that is hard to get approved now days.

Slowly getting things organized. Some new parts to fit. Modified rear springs, change of length to so as to change spring rate (should be smoother, not as rough). New diff centre for front diff to help with traction in wet conditions.

Like mine but on the other side of the vehicle (it is on the passenger side). 2000 model - Open where windscreen washer bottle is and lay all the way down. From the left:- fan motor - white ducting with fan speed ballast in duct then filter in a long slot up and down. Hard to see as it looks...
This filter is a problem. I believe it's the same as in my 2000 model and I've found nothing to replace it with. Yes it is only a screen and I have replaced it with some air-con filter medium that is 1/4" thick. Not good but better. The other trick that gets done over here sometimes is to locate...
The first year that we went up we had our slide on camper on, it measured up at 3.2m high and 2.2m wide so yes it is doable. At a couple of places we detoured around some overhanging branches and leaning trees. The track is narrow in some places and bush pin-striping is what we gained but so...
Well the year is well on it's way and it is time to start looking at getting things a lined up in row for our run to the Tip. I know it is still some months away but some things take time. Vehicle mods to be done, camping gear to check. After our last trip report some of you expressed an...
I'll volunteer My place I'm sure I can find a couple of steers to throw on the barby and while your here (you need to bring your own FG) we may as well do a tour of this great land.

That is only for parts, the rest I will do myself as I'm going to be overhauling the whole front end. Not that there is anything wrong but I'll be looking to get a diff centre from Alan to increase traction on the front.
If it were me I'd be making them myself as there is not a lot to it. Get...
Stu,
I know it's a side track. I like your little lights on your bar but I'm sorry to say that they won't be there after our trip to the cape later this year.
You would have to watch going along some desert track as well the vegetation would knock them off.

I'm just about to replace the boots on mine (FG637) and yes there is an inner seal that runs on the ball to stop the dust and dirt from getting into the CV joint. 2 boots and 2 seals ran me into A$750.00 only available Genuine that I could find.

I run a 20,000lbs 24volt (Chinese style) similar to this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WIRELESS-20000LBS-24V-EXTREME-HEAVY-DUTY-ELECTRIC-WINCH-/321229848606?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4acaca801e. The theory of 1.5 X GVM is good but I have found with machinery when it is bogged to the...
It really depends where you want to go. If staying on dirt roads and highways then no you probably don't need 4WD. But for going off road and desert crossing well you won't get me there in a 2WD.
