Not mercedes specific but the fan belts on most trucks usually thread out past the fan one blade at a time. Depending on the shroud you may need to squeeze it a bit to get clearance.
Air intake is that grill on the side of the hood. Probably 6’ off the ground so that would not be the limiting factor. All the external electrical is out in the weather anyway so roadspray etc doesn’t affect them so that is probably not the limiting factor.
Need to check the breathers, fill...
I didn’t have anything done to the transmission but it probably would of been advisable to have the adaptive learning reset.
Ratios are a little overgeared compared to factory. But that is because I ended up using 46” tires instead of the 43” ones.
Somewhere in this thread I published the...
You could go with the 7th gear option for the Allison. Same setup as used in the M-1078 S&S trucks. They bolt straight up to the 3000 series Allison and provide a low-low gear and AWD. Like this one eBay Listing
If you are looking outside of that the Rockwell T-1138 has an overdrive in high...
Nothing really seals it out. The best option is adding cab pressurization via some type of filter. On our bigger mining equipment we used cyclonic filters and fabric filters (massive) before the blowers and on the smaller stuff it was Donaldson filters with the cyclonic prefilter...
I have a red dot system sitting in my container that I removed from the Ambo. Rugged but takes up some real estate. We looked at using a DC motor to drive the compressor and being able to use it parked as well as while driving but in the end it was just too much real estate and another project...
With your locks. Check the mechanisms. The ones on my latest truck were bent purposefully so it could never lock some compartments. A little bit of muscle and they functioned adequately.
My toolbox has been a pelican case with everything just tossed in. It was a 2 person job to put in and out of the truck. And it was a PITA to find anything. So on Black Friday last year I grabbed 10 of the Dewalt Deep Pro Organizers with the idea of using them for all the incidents spares...
The bike will be strapped to a rail on the back of the truck. If the truck is on its side you cut the straps and drag the bike out. But the plan is to not to test out that theory.
As for being off-road, we always say that these are all road rigs. In theory the only off-road will be the last...
Some more sketchy mockups. My local trailer place had a few hitches on clearance so I grabbed this one which is about the correct width. Final configuration is waiting somewhere in my brain box but this is the general idea. Rear doors will eventually be sheeted over with a hatch/window at the...
Where to fit a spare tire. I have other plans for the cab roof and at 46” diameter and 17” wide and a shade under 400# there are not a lot of options.
Plus I still want to keep my bike rack on the back. So my latest epiphany is to make up a rack with a winch to lift the tire and it will also...
