    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@beneng_jr I can’t say how much it really insulates compared to a bare floor. But I’m sure it’s better. Fire up the heater, crawl out of bed barefoot in shorts and I’m comfortable. Regarding the mattress we used foamorder.com lots of foam and cover options. The foam is a bit firm when cold. But...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@bgraboyes The awning is the best choice for my setup I think. Opening and closing is effortless (since I can kneel on the tailgate) and provides all the coverage I’ll ever need. A 270 mounted on the side would be too high up to easily open/close. I also don’t think I would get full tailgate...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@dstefan i believe mine just added two inches as well. I think that’s Jay’s extra bedding height standard. regarding the rail underneath the bed rug I think it would just depend where you mounted it. I would probably just trim the bed rug out where the rail sits. I think if you wanted a more...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@dstefan thank you for the kind words! I used rivnuts throughout for attaching to the bed floor. Basically I would cut a slit/flap in the bed rug to expose the bed underneath. Drilled then painted each hole. Then installed the riv nut. For attaching the 8020 to said deck riv nuts I used 90...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

I did. Wish I had pics of the install process. Quite a pain due to where the compressor mounting holes are. Had to do most of the work from underneath with the wheel liner removed.

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

Finished up my ARB twin compressor install. Have an outlet under the hood as well as one where the spare tire access used to be. Best thing is I can now fill all 4 truck tires, air bags, and trailer when it’s hooked up all without popping the hood!

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

hah yeah the factory suspension is pretty soft. The BDS lift springs and fox 2.0 were very stiff comparatively before I added all the weight. It’s now kinda soft if the bags are empty. I run about 20psi to keep it level. Have an add a leaf to install which should tighten things up and keep me...

What Camper should I get? (Project M vs AT Atlas vs GFC vs Super Pacific x1)

I don’t see it any different than how/why people build out vans. The only way that I could have a pop up truck camper with some amenities on my 1500 was to get an OVRLND and build it out myself. With a FWC raven shell I’d be at least 500 lbs heavier with less space for the dog. Had I owned an HD...

Trade F-150 for Tundra - Overland

I would keep your F150. Build the truck you have and it’ll do anything you want except go rock crawling. Lots of options for suspension from mild to wild on the f series trucks as well as anything else you want.

@jeep364 We really like the toilet. Nice to not have to mess with holding tanks or anything like that. It’s definitely expensive from the unit cost, to the bag cost. I buy the bags and coagulant from OK4wd. I do wish/hope they come out with biodegradable bags at some point. If we were full...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@Pshin i have it pushed as far forward as it’ll go. Maybe could flip the fairing over the onstar antenna, but then I think the rack would be angled forward a bit.

    Thoughts? Expedition camper 135k

Is it just me or does the roof rack look like its built out of 4” ABS? Ad also says 22’ bumper to bumper. No way in hell! My CCSB Sierra is 20’ on the nose.

    270 Awning FREE STANDING!

Maybe add 23zero to that list of freestanding units. Very similar to Darche but moderately improved IMO. I also recommend using the legs and stakes if you plan to use it in high winds.

ovrlnd camper - full vertical hatch vs full barndoors

I have an OVRLND with barn doors. I have no water intrusion and dust is minimal. Before installation I pulled up the bed rail caps and sealed underneath with silicone. Sealed all the drain holes in the bed floor. Sealed the screw in tie downs. Tailgate seal and foam blocks in the stake pockets...

    2016 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71

I highly recommend you look into this. It could mean the vacuum pump has failed or is failing. These new ecotec motors don’t pull enough vacuum off the brake booster at idle or in 4cyl mode so it has an accessory pump. It is lubricated directly from engine oil and failure of the pump can take...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

@Pshin thank you! Definitely been a lot of work. The bars are standard Yakima round bars and towers that I’ve had for ages. It’s hard to say About the noise. I think the camper wind noise decreased, but I get some whistle from the bars. Only audible with the windows down (these GMCs have very...

    Heaters: Comparative data

its been an excellent heater for my purposes. If/when I star spending more time at altitude I’ll install forced air of some sort. Until then a buddy heater as supplement works to knock the chill of.

Lopped 2 inches off the legs. Re-riveted with support bar holes moved up. I have my floor space back!!

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

First build update in a long while. Decided I wanted to have the toilet slide out from under the cabinet. Used 4 500 lb slides flat mounted. Deck is 3/4” birch like everything else. Next step is to cut down the wrappon toilet legs 2”.

    Heaters: Comparative data

I have a wave 3 installed on the wall of my OVRLND. The coldest I’ve used it down to was about 17 degrees outside Bridgeport, CA in January. I slept with it on high all night and it used a whole 1lb Coleman bottle. Although it wasn’t warm inside, it did keep the inside temperature above freezing...
