No real Updates on the camper build. Probably make a few tweaks this winter. But have def been enjoying the camper and being back in AK! Everywhere I go people ask about it. Having a truck and camper is great here on the island. But having a raft really opens up exploration!
Good deal! Yeah sounds like we have the same rear diff. I regeared to 4.56 and it helped a lot. Still a slow pig, but I average 14.5 keeping it at 65. I had an axle seal replaced about 10k ago but that’s my only issue so far.
Very cool truck!
I assume you have the 9.5 rearend. Any issues with all the weight constantly back there? I’m thinking that’s my weak point right now in my ‘14.
The border is still closed. I was allowed through as an essential traveler. Instructed to not stop anywhere. Pay at the pump fuel only. Drive thru food only. All parks closed to people besides BCers. They made it very clear they do not want outsiders traveling through. Have to drive through...
First OVRLND in AK? Crossed the border at 6 am. This is our third time doing the drive and although the scenery was amazing as always it was not a terribly fun trip given travel restrictions and what not. We grinded through BC and Yukon in 4 days. Very glad that we’re 100% self contained. And...
We’re on the road right now, but I’ll try and get some close up pics. I basically just used large riv-nuts and the supplied hardware in the forward bed rail. The tire touches the bed floor so it’s supported on both sides.
AM solar’s rocker mounts are with VHB on the bracket base with a sikaflex flood around the feet. I was skeptical but there’s lots of folks that have had success and after a few months I’m confident it’s not going anywhere.
the same principle could easily be applied to unistrut or Ltrack.
Saw hanging soft cabinets that come with Palomino Rogue campers. I could probably make some but does anyone have a source of supply? I think they would be a great addition to my OVRLND.
I put the 23zero 180R awning on the back of my camper. Very very happy with the quality and coverage it provides.
Its very easy to deploy and pack up solo. seems quite sturdy and I’m unlikely to connect the vertical support Legs unless in expecting wing.
With that, I hope some folks with money call BS on the nonsense dust issue that is driving the closure of Pismo. It would be a shame to lose access so someone can build condos or whatever.
Born and raised CA as well. Been away for 18 yrs or so. Unfortunately was sent back here the for the last two years. And thankfully on my way out next month. As amazing as the landscape is, unfortunately the general populous (ie: large urban areas) turn the whole place to $hit.
So, my wife called USAA today to try and up the insurance on the truck with the camper additions. They kept saying it’s a “modified vehicle” and weren’t very helpful. Or my wife wasn’t answering the Qs very well which is a possibility. Gonna give them a call again and looking for input on how to...
@MTVR I don’t understand Why should they have to know. Or how that is a metric to measure someone by. Folks get way too worked up about what other people want to do or spend their money on.
All these comments about Harley owners can be said about Honda, Kawasaki, triumph etc. I’m pretty sure poorly trained riders of all makes become red skidmarks at an equal rate. I’ve noticed folks around here just like crapping on the make. Just like I’m sure my GMC isn’t “overland” enough to...
