Victron Blue Smart Charger (Not solar)

I suppose if your only ever concerned about starting this vehicle in particular.. I use my cables far more on other people's vehicles than my own.. plus they come in handy for other things, like directly jumping the starter, if a relay or wiring fault occurs.. or if you gotta limp out with a bad...

Victron Blue Smart Charger (Not solar)

Orion's are not configurable unless you get a Smart One. You throw an ACR in the garbage bin if you use a DC charger.. you wont charge your house battery more than 30A unless its massive, and having an ACR does not negate the need to carry Jumper leads.

Inexpensive battery banks, any out there?

if that were as big of an issue as your making it out to be (it isint w/GC2's very thick cells), who cares.. a quality AGM bank costs more than 3x the cost, and you dont gotta treat ******** properlly or its all out the window. Down under you dont have the crap we gotta deal with either.. here JCI...

those sound like pretty minimal loads unless I'm missing something, fridge is like 30-50W, fan is like 100W max flow, laptops are usually ~50W, LED lights and chargers are mostly negligible, just a couple watts.. Not familiar w/those chargers but as long as they are multi-stage and will float...

    Aussie GME antenna ?

I've got one of his for GMRS, was using it in the early days of testing my GMRS repeater at home.. its not reasonable to mount that to a vehicle tho, but is a good example of what you could build. For Mobile GMRS I use a Comet CA-2x4SR w/Addon Spring, you can get it in either NMO or UHF mount...

Inexpensive battery banks, any out there?

You gotta buy your batteries locally dude, shipping em is is gonna cost you extra and then you wont have any good way to warranty it without paying more than its worth to ship it back in a few years.. Buying anything bigger than a Size D battery off Amazon is just dumb.. you'll get one thats...

Inexpensive battery banks, any out there?

Garbage.. I made the mistake of buying a Renology AGM about a decade ago.. it crapped out after 2 short seasons... If your going AGM you needa be looking at Rolls or Lifeline. What kind of loads are you expecting on this thing? FLA are generally pretty safe indoors unless you overcharge the...

standard 6v Golf Cart batteries.. You can get a Duracell (Deka/EastPenn) from SamsClub for $89, a pair of em for $180 gives you a 215AH 12V bank.. GC2 batteries by design are true deep cycles, super thick and robust cells.. will take far more abuse than anything else you'll get until your...

    Portable Reverse Osmosis Water System?

I've got a home RO system I got from: http://www.purewaterclub.com/ It fills a 55g drum in the basement and then a high pressure pump like what we've got in our RV's and a surge tank distributes it to the kitchen and fishtank.. I think if I was gonna do portable I'd do something simuliar, the...

Inexpensive battery banks, any out there?

Pair of GC2's are far better than anything for the money.. and still better than most everything 2x the money.. They take abuse very well and if your abuse does kill em they are cheap.. you can replace a GC2 bank several times for the price of a good AGM deep cycle bank and that premium AGM bank...

Harbor Freight Jack Stands Recalled for Risk of Collapsing

If you can afford it, its like having your own personal autobahn.. Harbor Freight Jack Stands Recalled for Risk of Collapsing

Our fuel taxes in Colorado have not changed in 3 decades, but you wanna know what has changed this last 3 decades? Us selling most of our roads to private companies and them charging us all tolls to drive on em.. C470 is like the most expensive toll road in the country, and its mostly empty cuz...

Recommendations for off-road communications equipment or platforms?

Getting on the radio and knowing who is within range and what channels they are monitoring would result in better likelihood of making contact.. my radio I can sort by closest to me and anyone advertising a frequency/tone they are monitoring is just one click away.. there's even some repeaters...

Recommendations for off-road communications equipment or platforms?

Yeah I find APRS is super useful for overlanding, and very reliable.. I've spent months traveling western US w/aprs beacon broadcasting and very rarely found any considerable areas where I was not able to get out packets.. I always got someone behind following my progress, and since I dont have...

Small cross-over SUV functional for adventuring?

Touareg TDI, the 1st gen motors that got bought back by dieselgate are flooded in the market and made em cheap as hell.. and you get a pretty decent warranty with it.. the CPO's are coming with unlimited mileage warranty for 2 years if you like to drive you could get more warranty than it had...

I've got chirp running on a pixelbook that can operate as a tablet.. I use APRS for location/messaging (SMSGTE), for the most part works consistently well when cell phones dont, this is long range so others in party can find my rally point or those left behind can track my progress.. I use...

    Intech RV

Tongue Weight would be my guess, slide outs are heavy for what they are and toy haulers are tongue heavy since the only place to put anything and maintain a big cargo area is in the front.
