And you would probably drop a tranny again soon after. Google it - the '96 transmissions are relatively unique 4R55E and not so reliable (towing or loaded running in overdrive seams to be the main issue, self destructs). Looks like some dude did a great wright up on how to improve them thou...
SR Gen 2 '95 / '96 are getting so hard to find in good condition. 20 years old. Personally I'd focus only on a '96 thou because its got OBD II. The '95 you will either need a MUTTS (harder to find than the vehicle!) or a needle type volt meter to read the engine DTCs. Yep they are 20 years...
It would be best to bring the manifold to a pro welding shop that has the correct equipment like a sand blaster and pre-heat oven, knows how to carbon arc scarf etc... After its finished you will most likely need to get the gasket surface blanchard ground to get it flat again.
I think if you were in the $6k to $8k range there would be people interested. As you note, there are several gremlins with the vehicle.
