    Mtbxj87's 1989 XJ

I got some time to do a little project I've wanted to do. Higher clearance crossmember. I had a stock trans crossmember already, and a piece of .25"x4" plate. I started with a initial measurement. Cut the bottom off, it's kinda just dead space really. Cut the plate to fit nicely in...

Nice work. With the JCR kit I didnt have to touch the upper mount. But yea the washers where a joke. I reused the factory washers for the steering box, they are thick hardend steel.

Also next time you have a friend around have them turn the steering wheel back and forth while you keep and eye on the steering box bolts. That section of frame will flex around.

It plates the front of the frame and ties it in with the front crossmember more then just spot welds. One side goes over the steering box bolts and has a steel spacer in between the box and the frame to stiffen that area. Same thing on the passenger side. Both outer plates wrap around and the...

    Mtbxj87's 1989 XJ

I got around to installing the JCR front tie in kit. I am pleased with the quality and the fit. The steel is pretty hard and is USA made! I pulled off the bumper and tow hooks. Loosened up the fender support brackets then removed the steering box bolts and factory aluminum spacer. I did have a...

Sure, you don't have to do anything to yours! 84-90 had a vacuum operated shift fork in the front axle to connect a two piece axle shaft. This made it so when In 2wd the front diff was not completely turning. The idea was to make it more fuel efficient or something. In 90 jeep went with a one...

99 Jeep XJ Intro and expedition "build" attempt! Plus some restoration.

Xjs have pretty good ground clearance at the body stock. The true reason for lift is for larger tires. 99% of time I'm out in rocks I scrape the diffs and that's about it. Im really only at 2-2.5"

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Toylandcruiser, you're in a jeep sub-forum. We like our jeeps. You're not going to convince us to unlike them by being a troll. I am in bias, fyi. I like older Toyotas and older jeeps. Others feel the same way. Everyone here needs to get in their rigs, jeep or toy, find a trail and get lost for...
