It's the same TC all the Fords have. 17+ SD's will break the spinning wheel. Just what a torsen diff needs.

People think pulleys increase pulling power.

Just get your winch and pulleys out. Tape the ground in front of your truck, and paint marker every foot of line. If the winch pulls in 3 feet of cable, but your truck moves only one foot......ta da! You just tripled your winching force. Your 10,000# winch will only exert 10,000#, but when...

Need advice - buying a truck

You should be able to get a new F250 XL CC Fx4 for $44k, and then down to $38k at the end of the year discounts. Off road with a fullsize is: ''If it fits, it ships.'' Camper really doesn't change the equation much past that. Anywhere it fits, isn't exactly going to be too hardcore, until...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

I'll bet that the current SD's are darn close to PW in terms of flex. Ford hasn't really lacked there, since 1998. It's not a stretch at all that with softer rear springs that it'll match or exceed to PW rti.

Any fool can say what you just said. Would you like to explain how he's wrong?

People think pulleys increase pulling power.

Pulleys are nothing more than reduction gears. More pulleys, more torque, less speed. Ya'll are over thinking this. If the object being pulled, is traveling slower than the line going into the winch, you've increased pulling force on the object. Just watch with your own eyes. And the...

Need advice - buying a truck

I'd go straight to 250/350 and a slide in camper. Any gas 2001+ Ford SD would be my pick. Any 7.3l diesel.

It's not exactly a hard part to self fab: They're pretty much just flat steel panels. Big deal.

I don't think Ford wanted to make a complete Powerwagon. The Raptor has a front LSD as well, so somebody has been asking for them. And I don't want to haul a camper with a PW. I'm thinking, that I'm leaning more towards 5 link, vs radius arms. The 5 link has a drop bracket, kinda, that...

Extremely rare. And I'll put the SD flex up against the PW any day. Just let me add the necessary weight to the bed. Any big truck can flex on half ton springs, the PW isn't doing anything special there. Doesn't really matter. Deaver, Carli, and BDS have all the suspension options you...

4L requires that the trans be in Neutral to go in and out. I suppose you could force it in with the manual shifter.. Keep in mind that Ford watches these forums. If everyone, that can't drive for $#!7, complains about 1 wheel peel from an elocker, we get stuck with an LSD in the front...

I doubt I burn more than 10 calories unbolting my front sway bar.

My new camper and truck ready for gnarly dirt roads

They're too fat and stupid to walk anywhere. I wouldn't ever get onto a golf cart.

    Colorado / Canyon bent frame

Maybe obsolete Tundra frames or GM garbage. But at least one of the light trucks is trying. https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2017/08/22/steel-expert-expect-higher-strength-steel-frames-on-body-on-frame-vehicles/ You can pretty much expect future midsize trucks to go unibody. It's only...

Hauling A Motorcycle With A Truck Camper

Most of the campers in this thread don't appear to be going anywhere that a decent utility trailer can't go just as easy. Keep in mind, how much load that trailer will take off of your truck and camper. Your gen, bike, awning, cooler, redundant spare, gas cans, solar, can all go on the trailer...

Question about diesels or gassers and grille front light bars/light mounts

Two in front of the grill, on the bumper is fine. Don't put a dozen lights there. Lights flush mounted IN the grill, is a bad idea. You'll see this often with new Ford owners. I prefer a set of Rigid, little ditch flood lights mounted on the hood hinge, aimed out almost sideways. Popular...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

10" more than a PW, IIRC. Another trade off. Longer tows better, as sure is nice on the hwy. While people don't wheel fullsizes as much, we still camp off road, go down flooded dirt roads, beaches and such. Not to mention farms and ranches. Big difference.......I don't worry about my...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

Someone mentioned that turning tightly into their unplowed driveway, 4A was handy in a F150. It would hop in 4H. But if you slow down twice as much with a SD, select 4H, and accelerate in, you're less likely to bind and hop on that snow. You can loosen up the front of the truck with just...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

I'm pretty sure my CCSB has a 38 gallon tank. Sadly it's programmed to show empty at about 28-30 gallons of use. Did they engineer in a reserve capacity? Or is it to keep the fuel pumps cool? I'm going with the Warn Ascent bumper and a 12000 Warn VR or Zeon winch. Looks better in...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

Mostly because the trucks in this thread can do the same thing in 2wd with hardly any TC intervention. Proper setup, tires, and driver skill go a long ways. And all of those are better options to try first, than 4A. I live in the snow belt, and if there's pavement/gravel under the snow...
