    5500 campers real life experience

I'd go with a Bundutec custom built hardside Bundutray. A tray 550 big,............could likely fit an entire REAL shower. Depending on the wheelbase you pick, a slideout might not be necessary. A little 3500 sized tray, pop up style though:

Is the Ranger the Hilux we've been wanting?

1000#+ camper equals 3/4 ton truck. Maybe half tons if you're very careful about weight. 3/4 tons should be GTG with 1700#. More than 2000# is pushing it. Sure there's plenty of them on mid size trucks. But nearly all of them are way over GVWR and/or very poor handling.

    Want a Discounted JL ?

So that launch edition badge just got more valuable. One in 4190. But 800 were destroyed because a babnanna peel was left on a railroad track. ??????????

Is the Ranger the Hilux we've been wanting?

38g on mine. It's still sad. There's enough room under the truck to smuggle an entire disassembled jeep. I think liability of fuel explosions, or fires, has more to do with tank size. Especially since they're formed plastic now. You could wrap them easily around components. There's...

    Want a Discounted JL ?

That's pretty much what they all look like after 3 trail rides anyways. I'll take dibs on that Gladiator, it looks nearly unharmed.

    New trucks and 4low...

For me, I notice that most of the AWD + comments are on paved or gravel roads. Where I nearly never need more than 2wd. And for the rare icy hill climb, 4WD is fine. 4L offers me something positive, AWD offers me nothing. Hopefully AWD sticks to SUV's and Honda's, and HD trucks remain a...

    Tundra vs F150

I'll bet you a broken Maxtrax that it still has the plastic thing on the hood.

    Components on while charging?

Sure. Especially if it's a big battery, and a little charger. Just don't ever accidentally disconnect the battery and run on the charger alone. Some chargers can add harmonics to the system that'll cause some thing to act up. Battery should soak up most of that. Then your invertor adds...

    New trucks and 4low...

We didn't do this in the 70's or 80's. Didn't dare cross the farm on a rainy day. Now camping and overlanding is best in the snow and rain. The ''didn't need 4wd way back then'' analogy, doesn't really apply.

The Trans America Trail in a 2019 Ford Ranger

Yep, that gate is fine. Open, roll up, drive though, unroll and clip it back together. Of they wanted to keep you out, it would be straight up barbed wire. Still looks like fullsize friendly trails. That's good.

    Towing With Hardside Truck Camper

Why can't you take a DRW to work or home? If I was never planning to wheel my truck, it would be DRW to get a slide out style camper, or any of the big campers above. I do prefer smaller campers. Like a Bunduvry or Capris. Big campers are kinda the life I'm trying to leave at home. Too...

    New trucks and 4low...

Yeah. But that was my dream truck when I was poor. Now to have a peasants XL, and it's as nice as I've ever wanted, is just great.

My XL is the same as a 2001 Lariat except no power seats, no leather.

    New trucks and 4low...

I use mine every other weekend. -beach -ditch -crossing a small, fallen tree trunk, slowly -anything wet or uphill in Coshocton county -city mulch pile -my back yard -visiting friends ranch None of that is Overlanding. Ya'll just need better friends, or move somewhere to use your trucks more...

Just GM being GM. Is it the weird Auto 4wd or something? Ford and Dodge still have 4L on any model I'm interested in.

    Towing With Hardside Truck Camper

I do 1000 miles a week once a month like that. 11 000# F350 and a 6000# trailer. Tongue weight of the trailer counts against the trucks GVWR. I would double your expected tongue weight for your GVWR math considerations. Also keep in mind, if your trailer has enough beef, you can move...
