Sounds like a great start to getting the family involved! Roof-top tents are great and will probably be super exciting for kids but I would recommend oversizing for comfort and space. That or RTT for kids and ground tent or trailer for adults.
Nice pictures and updates! I've learned there are many projects I like to tackle... and many I'd rather just have pros do.
With a fast charging outlet, any issues with melting wires?
This matches up with a lot of what I've heard. Sounds like the complexities are overhyped and that it's quite doable in whatever with some smart planning.
Thanks for all the updates and recap. Looks like its been one great trip!
I had a 2003 SVT Focus and boy was that a fun car. Needed a little more power but it sure made backroads so much fun. A car I thought was an upgrade but was not was my old 2006 Supercharged Cobalt SS/SC. Although quick, that car sounded terrible and was way less quality than the SVT.
It's definitely a bit of a toss-up to me but so nice to have all of these options of rugged capable SUVs. Who would have thought that after watching SUVs get neutered through the 2000s, that we'd see such capability come back from almost all manufacturers. . . Ahem... except the Blazer.
Not to be a negative Nancy but I'm betting new prices won't fall. I imagine they'd just continue to go up at a much slower rate. Used though, yeah they'll have to fall! It's been nice feeling like I'm sitting on a good "investment" for the last couple of years. I guess it's time for reality to...

Engineering comes in many forms but most commonly, optimized or over-engineered.
The LC Prado is an efficient use of engineering with a purpose-built function.
The LC is an excessive use of engineering with a purpose-built function. Hence you're HD...
This mentality is on par with: "Back in my day we earned $1 per hour and we were happy about it. Now these new workers demand more than $2 per hour? What a bunch of girls!"
I assume your vehicle of choice is an ox with a wagon due to its boxy shape and lack of electronics.
This isn't just a...
At 27mpg, that's a 50% increase for our 5th Gen 4Runner resulting in a 33% fuel savings. That's huge. The increased electric gremlins that could pop up is always concerning but I have more faith in Toyota than other manufacturers.
With considerations of the 4Runner's future, this aligns well with my expectations (more so hopes).
The price is right, the optional trims are right, the looks are right, and the customer persona was nailed.
Although this ticks all of my (and my wife's) boxes, I'm curious what the final...
This air intake is one of my favorite ideas. I've barely scratched the surface on looking into what it takes to do this to my JK but plan to get into it one day. It's just so much cleaner looking and functional if you bring an extension section with you to raise it off the cowl when needed. No...
