I finished my fridge slide today. After learning what it would cost to have someone bend aluminum for a one off project I decided to go ahead and redesign my project using aluminum angle and plate. Like most things I build this is a tad heavy, but will outlast me.
Like most things this will...
What if you set the front up like a roof top tent where it just clam shells open to provide 2x the original square footage? Could be like a mini Ursa Minor J180 out over the hood.
I installed LUX lights under my Jeep, 4 blue, 8 white. They are also wired to the interior footwell lights so they click on when a door is opened or I unlock the Jeep.
It's already using big sliders, my concern is that it extends out around 74" and that is a long lever arm. This is cheap insurance and it was unused space
I think I've found the appropriate fasteners, flush mount barrel nut. I'd love to find these in steel or stainless, but we'll see once I have the slides, I may have enough room for a traditional nut. Biggest hurdle right now is finding someone to bend the SS for me.
Made one more addition...
Thanks for the compliments! While I did think about grinding down a nut I didn't think about Jam nuts, thanks for the idea. I'm also considering using a rivet nut/blind nut inserted from the back side, I think this would be the easiest to execute.
Thanks man, I did make the drawer system. If you follow the link in my signature to my build thread I have a lot of photos documenting it. I also redesigned the slide over the weekend using 14ga Aluminum with Stainless Steel Counter tops. I'm currently speaking with a couple metal fab shops who...
Redesigned it today using 100% 14g aluminum with 14g Stainless Steel counter tops. I've reached out to a local fabrication company to see if they can do the bending for me, if not I'll pick up a bending press. The trickiest part is connecting the Accuride 3307 sliders between the middle and end...
Haven't executed it yet, but I've been thinking about a design for my fridge slider/prep surface in my JKU. Due to the custom drawer system already installed and the onboard water tank I don't have enough room for an out of the box fridge slider. Plus it wouldn't be nearly as fun!
Today I...
So here it is. I had a chance to draw it up today on SketchUp. I think I'm pretty close on my design. Total added height is only 3" and the table will end up a little wider than in the drawing @ 12.5"x52". I'm using 2x 26" 500lb Accuride 9308 locking sliders for the fridge, 2x 26" 150lb 3308...
You're doing a great job with this. While the fiberglass isn't, the soft frame is completely within my skill set. Would you be ok if I borrowed your idea for personal usage in the months to come? I'd rather buy one, but I know your plans aren't set in stone yet.
Went out to Sunset Cliffs this week to get some family photos. On our way back I snapped a few photos freehand. It was dark and without a tripod they turned out OK at best, I may have to go back and get more.
I don't recall who made them, but I purchased the mount on eBay. However, they aren't listed any more. I understand why people want a holster with retention and I can't blame them for that. Personal preference, I love the magnet mount!
I believe it would still work. Again I had the off brand shown above and it worked with the Tuffy before I stuck a sub under the seat. Now I use a passenger side Tuffy exclusively.
I did something similar using a mount I found on eBay a while back. Instead of a holster I got a cojo gun magnet which holds whatever gun I happen to be carrying. I love this option, the pistol doesn't move, but I'm sure in a wreck it would be less stable than a holster with retention.
I've...
