    Another Ambo Build

lucky you can work on it outside - when I was doing mine i was in a garage ... mess!!!! also your color looks close to the red mine is - if you want a temporary color 'match' I found that the krylon rattle can "cherry red" over a black primer is actually pretty darn close. You can absolutely...

    Another Ambo Build

fun times - glad to see someone else used 3m panel adhesive to patch the light holes ... that's what i did with mine, stuff works fantastic and it's way easier than welding (plus...i've never welded anything so there's that) I like the way you did the scene lights too- i'm actually considering...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

damn - sucks dude! in my jeep I picked up 3 mice last year camping at craters of the moon NM ... had to stop and get mousetraps (spring style) and buried all 3 of them at Dinosaur NM 2 days later. A few weeks after getting home and well after i thought i had cleaned the heck out of the jeep...

    Vaults and Safes in Camper

fireproof and waterproof are similar to bulletproof .... replace '____proof' with '_____resistant' and that's about as good as you're going to get fire will bake the contents at a minimum, water always finds a way, and too often bullets do too. I would still recommend having a conspicuous safe...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

my kodiak is at the shop for the front air suspension and some work on the rear... i 'can' do all of it myself, but finally on this job decided between the HOA and limited time to just pay someone else to do it. after reading your experience with working on it in the driveway i think my back...

If I Only Had The Money....

hah, hopefully no community or society ever needs it ..... but hope is not a plan, so it's nice to have if nefarious actors make it necessary. "plan for the worst and you'll rarely be disappointed"

2009 Chevy Medium Duty 4x4 Kodiak Ambulance conversion

hope you made it back home Tom, sorry I missed you coming through my area! so...what are the updates and wheel drama? mine's at the shop now to get the front air suspension installed and de-fubar the rear suspension (airbags/swaybar issue). also hoping the studs are long enough for the...

    longer wheel studs?

thanks - the truck goes for the front air suspension and rear repairs in a week, at that time they'll re-center the rear axle and let me know their thoughts on space tire:bags and whether or not the studs are long enough for the spacers. if not, they found a source for 'custom' lugs but to buy...

Another, another which wheel. MRAP on a 550?

yes you can mount them either direction to change the offset - unfortunately on my kodiak doing that with the stryker wheels moves the fronts further out and the rears further in so it staggers the track front to back rather than helping. I don't know the difference from stryker to mrap though...

Another, another which wheel. MRAP on a 550?

the aluminum 2 piece military wheels are surprisingly light - i have the stryker wheels like in Beefcake's build, they're way lighter than the steel inner 22.5's i ended up using, and about the same as the alcoa aluminum 22.5's. too bad they weren't the right backspace for a kodiak/topkick but...

    longer wheel studs?

thanks, yeah i REALLY didn't want to mess with spacers, still don't .... and I still may not. It goes to the shop either this week or next to get the kelderman front air suspension installed, and to replace some of the MTE rear suspension parts, new shocks etc. I had planned to have them put...
  14. Brewdiak

    longer wheel studs?

no, not so far with a couple hundred miles on it - it's possible that it's 'okay' as is (well, I'm going to try and at least center the axle as there is a little more on the driver's side than the passenger's side). I'd really like a little more breathing room though - I can see something weird...

    longer wheel studs?

what I found for an '08 c4500 8-lug was: GM p/n 88936162 (Dorman p/n 610-525). THese are M20x1.5 ... serrated ... 21mm knurl ... but 74.2mm (2.921") long so I'm trying to find some that are 1/2" longer I haven't found a narrower airbag, in fact the ones on it appear to be the narrowest from...

    longer wheel studs?

it would be easier to hit a unicorn by throwing a leprechaun at it ... not a lot of wheel options and I really don't want to try for custom wheels having just shelled out thousands on these alcoa's

    longer wheel studs?

anyone know where to find longer wheel studs? i have a 2008 c4500 4x4, 8 lug. I put alcoa 22.5's and 10r22.5's on it, but with the rear airbags (monroe truck equipment MTE rear suspension) there is almost no clearance from the tire to the bag. I was able to get 1/2" aluminum spacers through...
