    Watches.......the other type!

I had a nice Tag Heuer that I wore for quite a few years. Not a good pic , but you can see it. I like the combination of black and gold. River raft trip in New Zealand.

What did you cook today? Photo thread

Dinner today. Grilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce, doctored yellow rice , added a can of Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies and green beans. The reason I use the foil pan is because my RV has a propane oven, I keep the pilot light on all the time so it stays kind of warm in there. I put...

What did you cook today? Photo thread

I usually have a big Sunday breakfast, skip lunch and have an early dinner. The butcher I go to down here in my winter digs is pretty good. They sell a steak they call Ugly's. Won't tell you the cut of meat they use. It's a secret, but the meat is tender and grills up nicely. Cheap too. Today...

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

My buddy has a 14 Grand Cherokee with the diesel engine. It was the first year they offered it and he loves it. It has had a few recalls but overall it has performed very well. It can get as good as mid 30's mpg when on the highway for long distances. We have put 748 miles on it that way. Around...

Today I made a burrito out of the blackened spicy pork chop I made the other day. First I take some of the rice and pork out of the fridge, chop up the pork and put them in a pan. The pan goes into my RV oven that has the pilot light on all the time. I do this around 2 in the afternoon and let...

Tarp Under Tent - Common Practice?

I carried a piece of Tyvek I got at a construction site for years as my ground cloth. Worked great and since it was free, I didn't worry about it much.

Expedition Vehicle pricing vs RV pricing

For me, it isn't just the initial cost that makes me ponder an Expedition vehicle. After you have it, you need to maintain it. And something built on a 5500 chassis is going to cost a lot more to maintain than an RV.

    Water tank size & placement

I have a 60 gallon water tank in my 24' Lazy Daze on a Ford E series chassis. It is under the couch on the right side. About right in the middle of the coach. To offset that weight, they put the generator , propane tank and batteries on the opposite side. Pretty well balances out things. My gray...

    Itchy goes vintage!

How much fuel does the tank hold? My BMW GS had an 11 gallon tank on it, it was almost impossible to pick up by yourself when full.

    Mercedes Turbo Diesel Wagon 1985 W123 - $2,600

In 2017 I found a one owner 78 240D in Jacksonville, Oregon. It had 107,000 miles on it. The original owners did a European delivery on it and I have all the paperwork from new. She's a beauty, ordered with a 4 speed manual, no A/C, electric windows and sunroof. They added an auxiliary 15 gallon...

Will Jeep and Ram Truck Prices Take a Steep Dive Soon?

Most car dealers get most of their profit from the service Dept. The problem I see is that cars have been made to last longer and have systems to diagnose problems easily. Therefore having technicians that actually know how to work on them isn't that important anymore. Now, they pretty much just...

Solid state batteries will make electric expedition vehicles practical.

When solid state batteries become widely available, they at first will be priced very high. It will be at least a few years before prices will be at the point of mass adoption. And by then, other battery technology will be ready to take over. A constant battle for sure.
