Unofficial J30 Jeep JKU Pop Up Thread

Congrats cobblecrazy- looks good! This is a cool option for the JK- especially those of us that want to bring along our yaks. any reason one rear window is solid and the other glass? Minimizing a blind spot? I kinda remember seeing glass was an option so maybe it was illustrating that?

    Snow Peak Addiction

Anyone have fixes/things to check on the Hozuki lamp? It's a pretty sweet lamp but gf dropped it while camping and it's kaput. Seems pretty sturdy and a short drop (she's not that tall lol) on dirt doesn't seem likely to have done it in. Figured I'd check here before shipping it in.

    options

avoiding the cheap lift would be a good idea. do it right the first time and avoid being frustrated and needing to do it later. as for mods, it always depends on where you're actually going and what you're doing. I'd say add a little armor and see how far it gets you. its always surprising...

Jeep rubicon unlimited or Toyota 4runner Trail

seems like a win win. I don't have 4 Runner experience so I can't speak to that but it is on my short list if I don't get another JKU (or want a 2nd, different vehicle). I will say my 2008 JKU Rubi just hit 80k. It's my built DD and it's had it's fair share of rocks along with Pine Barrens...

Where Do You Put Your ARB Fridge/Freezer?

I think ARB might be releasing JK storage drawers soon. I'm thinking about maybe getting at least on drawer (looks like 2 will fit across the rear trunk floor) and mounting freezer fridge on top with a slide. I'd lose a little cubby storage access but I'd gain some storage in the unused...

    OME Spring/ shock Suggestions

From what I remember from AEV forum you'll be fine with front drive shaft & 2.5". It's a complete kit & rides great according to my buddies (both 2dr & 4drs). The 616/7 & 618/9 refer to weight loads of the jeep (additional bumpers, gear, etc) and in theory should yield the same lift...

    OME Spring/ shock Suggestions

I don't think you're going to find an OME that meets your needs of no real increased lift & no additional components. OME makes a JK kit but with a couple coil options based on weight. As you noted you're going to get more then advertised lift. The 616/617 coils are the light duty for the...

Where Do You Put Your ARB Fridge/Freezer?

Agreed but I'll probably have bigger problems then! :Wow1: No but seriously I think if were wheeling anything really technical I'd strap it down. I appreciate your concern. That was one of the ideas I had. I haven't seen a setup that suits my need in person yet. So I've just been...

Where Do You Put Your ARB Fridge/Freezer?

I use to have my ARB strapped down behind the passenger seat when I had my Kilby flat floor in...which I'll be selling soon due to passenger needs ;) The Kilby flat floor gave me lots of space (w/some storage underneath) and the ARB didn't move at all. (straps not on in the picture above)...

    JK Roof Rack

I'm running the Gobi Recon and love it. Its a no-drill install, works with the AEV snorkel and can support a RTT. You can get the quick disconnects that let you tilt your rack back to lower your softtop too! Pricey but worth it for build quality. Note regarding AEV snorkel: the Air Ram will...

    JKJenn's Expedition Build Thread

Hey Jenn - no worries! I totally understand crazy weeks! Thank you in advance. :) I was asking because on JKO one of the vendors was selling a ARB awning mount and that was first I saw anything regarding needing additional hardware. It will be interesting to compare the mounts.

The rig is looking good & coming along! I ended up with silver too because that was the best deal. :) it's grown on me. If you get a chance can you post pics of the ARB awning mount on the Gobi? Did the awning come with the necessary hardware? Thank you!

    Scotch Sundays. Bring it.

I guess if it's a scotch I'll take a Lagavulin. ... But definitely more of bourbon guy (including bourbon barreled craft beers). In bourbon land I enjoy Maple Hill, Eagle Reserve & Tuthilltown. I use the Jim Beam, Wild Turkey & Tuthilltown in the bourbon vanilla sea salt ice cream I make for...
