    @OP I believe a faulty o2 sensor will lead to crappy mileage but I would expect that to trip the CEL and show a code on a reader. Or I could be totally full of it, as this is all coming from a dad of a 15 month old that is back sleeping in parents bed. Yeah, he kicks a lot in his sleep. o_O

    Passed smog, good for two more years Yep, passed smog again. There is a certain amount of elation when you have to go through enhanced inspection and still pass. 'Gross Emitter' status my ********.

    Rewired my horns around the faulty steering wheel switch. Sometimes it the small things :) Next up see if I can save my wheel bearings that seem to have developed 'play' all of a sudden.

    ODB2 pin-out diagram

    Anyone have a pin out diagram/schematic of the OBD2 port on a 98 Montero? I know pins 4,5 are grounds, pin 16 is power but none of the other pins. Trying to diagnose a link failure error also no CEL in "on" position and no start on the motor. thanks Josh

    @Toasty, I will look up ‘control module', doesn't ring a bell offhand. @evomaki, nope still not running. Been doing a lot of multi-meter checking between ECM/harness and other components (nothing definitive yet). Have the front of the motor pulled apart to get to crank/cam position sensors...

    cost to replace valve stem seals?

    Still haven't done mine, new valve stem seals have probably rotted out from sitting in my shop so long? LOL, chemical rebuild keeps the smog folks happy every two years. :wings::victory:

    casue the temp is over 100, might as well get under the gen2.5 for maint Time to prep the Montero for upcoming trip to desert. New fluids, frt & rear diff, TC, engine, and transmission fluid swap (still waiting on arrival).

    2001 GEN III horn has gone insane

    My 98 did the same thing, horn would start going off for no reason usually when I was driving to the gym at 4am. Pulled the fuse.
