Really cool, can't wait to see the build. Super jealous you can fit 30's under the van w/o lifting. My 87 vanwagon would need some fender cutting, in addition to the lift.

IMSC, I believe it was a trail mishap. KIRK fixed it w/in a week. If it is still smoking sounds like he didn't get around to replacing the seals? where did you see it for sale?
Josh
sold
Sold on craigslist.org in SF/Bay Area. Bought by a smog tech (i think). Originally he was going to fix it up (wouldn't pass smog) and then flip it. Haven't seen it turn up on CL again, but wasn't really looking(too many projects). -Josh
A new wrinkle .....💩
After being away all weekend get home on Sunday afternoon to put the idler arm/king pin assembly
back together. Everything goes smoothly grab the torque wrench after snugging down the nut and split washer, set it to 101 lbs start the final tightening and then it...
Idler arm/ King Pin upgrade , uh oh
Ok, while replacing kingpin that was fused to idler arm I had to remove the idler arm as well in the process tearing the boot. From the looks of the picture should I be replacing the idler arm or can I get a way with just using a little RTV on the rubber...
Any hints on removing the king pin from the idler arm? Unbolted the bracket (4 bolts) but can't get the arm to let go of the king pin. Tried tapping with a hammer, but no dice.
thanks josh
Please listen to both the previous posters. You will likely be sorry w/aftermarket axles if you go off road. Rebuild your current ones, less likely to leave you stranded on the trail 180+ miles from home. Ask me how I know.:(
camberg
Have these on my 06 tundra dbcab, love them. Camberg also sells the kits to convert the uni-balls to sealed bearings (no more squeaks).
Eventually I'll update mine as the uni-balls, have seen too much dirt, etc.
Same experience here. Charged my system at home shut down bottle at 50psi in system, temp probe in vents yielding about 42F w/outside temp being mid-hi 80s.
Did you install a front locking diff?
"The details:
1995 montero SR
150k miles
Automatic trans (shifts smooth)
3.5 V6 (And doesn't have oil smoke issue)
4WD Hi/Lo
Front and rear locking diffs
Adjustable stiffness suspension
Clean washington title
Needs tags/Oregon plates"
Door lock solenoid in driver door. While they can be fixed (completed it on my own car and a buddy's) given the time to split the case and find a material to sub it is almost easier to find a montero at local salvage yard and pull one as an extra. IMO
